Südtirol Home in South Tyrol, Italy by NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Thursday, March 12th, 2020

Article source: NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Is it possible to taste, smell and feel a country? Yes, it is. With the finest nuances, noa* brings the Südtirol-Home’ guests in Antholz on an exciting olfactory and visual journey of discovery through South Tyrol.

South Tyrol – a term that describes over a thousand things, was recently translated into architectural form for the occasion of the 51st Biathlon World Cup in Antholz, where top athletes, celebrities, politicians, organizers and visitors gather. Surrounding a kind of “village square” are 10 buildings, the largest of which is the Südtirol-Home, which will be the home of guests, winners and journalists in this top-class sports event 2020, who, above all, are intended to be able to do one thing here: feel South Tyrol.

The attractive shell of Südtirol-Home, a modern interplay, where glass and wood create a game between the open and closed, was already under construction when IDM Südtirol, the innovation, development and marketing company commissioned noa* with the design of its interiors. A critical factor that had to be taken into account in the planning of the interior design, was that this temporary building should be easy to dismantle and assemble at other locations without major wear and tear. The main task for noa*, however, was to enable Südtirol-Home’ visitors to experience the location and the country in which the sporting event takes place in literally every sense.

Qiyun Mountain Camp in Huangshan, China by LOT-EK

Thursday, October 10th, 2019

Article source: LOT-EK

The Qiyun Mountain Camp is a large natural adventure and extreme sport park in China. It is located by the Qiyun Mountain, a beautiful natural and sacred site as the birthplace of Taoism and the yin and yang symbol. We designed all the public services within the pristine natural setting of the park. Shipping containers are cut on a bias to generate the base units of the various buildings. They are joined, mirrored, tilted and recombined to fit the several programs and to make up new typologies. Three different areas are carefully inserted in the landscape considering the varying topography and are color-coded to create detectible landmarks within the natural setting.

Loong Swim Club in Suzhou, China by X+LIVING

Thursday, June 6th, 2019

Article source: X+LIVING

The combination of service-oriented business with new business forms is a trend. The designer experimentally integrates the subsidiary functions of the project with main business, re-optimizes the main functions of parent-child sports training, and builds the project into a comprehensive space for swimming and sports education, integrating entertainment and leisure.

The entire parent-child swim club is divided into five main functional areas and some auxiliary functional areas, all of which are centered around the behavioral habits of its target audience. In order to break the limitation of the spatial floor plan, the designer has worked out a streamlined flow after fully considering the user habits and potential behaviors of different target groups, so that adults, children and infants could all enjoy its caring service on this line.

«Alliance 1892» Brandy Distillery Museum & Warehouse in Chernyakhovsk, Russia by TOTEMENT/PAPER

Wednesday, June 5th, 2019

Article source: TOTEMENT/PAPER

The building is located in Kaliningrad region in old German town which was seriously damaged during World War II. In an empty place adjacent to the railroad a modern plant of brandy production was built. Our task was a warehouse building project which apart from its main function – storing brandy tierces – would serve as a place of meetings and com-munication, guests reception as well as a symbol of creation and rebirth, demonstrating the role of the plant in the city life.

The applied while considering all the parts of the project has led us to creation of an ex-tremely symbolical architectural ensemble.

ST Nursery in Japan by HIBINOSEKKEI + youji no shiro + KIDS DESIGN LABO

Wednesday, April 10th, 2019

Article source: HIBINOSEKKEI + youji no shiro + KIDS DESIGN LABO

The birth rate in Japan is on a constant decline resulting decrease in the number of siblings proportionately. As a result, the different age children aren’t able to develop a strong connection which results in developing complex, restricting them to freely communicate with others. This site is located in an area where this tendency can be seen remarkably. Hence we started with 'connection' as the key concept.

T. Culinary Workshop in Seville, Spain by Sol89

Wednesday, March 13th, 2019

Article source: Sol89

The Memory of the City

This delightful little locale where the culinary workshop takes place has a particular volume in which everything relates to the central cast-iron column that presides over the premises. From the bleak light that seeps through the two façade openings and in from the backyard, we can see the powerful brickwork walls that reveal the constructional history of the building located in this historic city, in Boteros Street, an old word meaning wineskins were sold there and whose etymology is partly recovered with this locale’s latest venture.

The Motlow House at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee by Clickspring Design

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

Article source: Clickspring Design

A crown jewel of the Jack Daniel Distillery grounds, the house (one of the first buildings seen by visitors approaching Lynchburg) was originally commissioned by Lem Motlow, second in a line of proprietors who have consistently delivered the best Tennessee whiskeys available.

With a keen sensitivity to the history of this 1930’s Georgian home and its role at the distillery, the reconstruction maintains the residential scale and character of Lem’s original creation. This was accomplished through careful reinvention of the interior to bring together local Jack Daniel’s hosts and enthusiasts from near and far in an environment that immerses guests in the unique form of hospitality that the brand is so well known for.
