Despite being situated on a relatively low-rise site, 9 Jalan Siap manages to overlook the lush greenery of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

The central courtyard allows for natural ventilation, and coupled with floor-to-ceiling windows and large overhangs, helps keep the house cool and bright. Such measures ensure that energy use is minimised.

In a bid to preserve material from demolished buildings, old roof tiles feature prominently in the walls that outline the site. Salvaged relics like these help create tactile surfaces that add uniqueness and character to the house.
