DESIGN STORY / NARRATIVE

At supperclub, food, drinks, light and sound are in harmony, merged into an atmosphere that offers an escape from the everyday world. A visit to supperclub is an experience that washes over you, a sanctuary for the senses. The evening begins in a neutral environment, similar to a white canvas, which undergoes successive transformations into a café, restaurant, bar, theatre and club.

supperclub is expanding with a new club at Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. Situated in the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Hotel, supperclub Dubai opened in July 2013. A focal point in the design was creating a blend of a typical supperclub and the characteristic lifestyle of Dubai. In the city where bigger, better, best is the topic of the day, developing a design concept for this supperclub was not a difficult task.

supperclub reacts to the superlatives that Dubai represents, and provides an optimally luxurious experience combined with typical Arab influences. Amazing food, amazing entertainment, and the amazing design of the different spaces, where the harmony between guests, music, food, design and entertainment brings you to a level that has not yet been experienced before in Dubai, or beyond. A melting pot for high-end dining, art, entertainment, and nightlife on the palm in Dubai. Each room at supperclub has its own distinct identity: La Salle Neige, Le Bar Rouge and, unique for Dubai, the Salle d’Or and Chef’s table.

WALK-THROUGH

Entrance

When the valet is parking the car at arrival, guests are guided to the entrance over a red carpet which passes by the life-sized supperclub logo. Once through the brass gate, decorated with name tags of all the regulars, guests are received at the welcome desk. The walls of the space are black glass with a large supperclub logo at the end. On the side that separates the entrance from the Salle Neige the wall is covered in padded cushions with a chrome ring.

Bar Rouge

A golden stairwell connects the entrance to Bar Rouge on the first floor, where guests are welcomed for their first drink. The space consists of a large cocktail bar with a huge bar sign in amusement lights centred above the bar. Along the red-coloured bar with lamps with plissé shades there are golden bar stools. Around the bar there are soft red leather lounge sofas. The floor is black granite, the ceiling is painted red and the walls are partly red glass and partly red curtains.

Bar Rouge is divided from the black balcony that surrounds the two-storey high Salle Neige with red velour curtains. If the red curtains are opened, attention is immediately drawn to Salle Neige where a VJ projects visuals on large white curtains. These curtains divide the black space of Balcon Noir from the Salle Neige. The curtains are raised when the guests are ready to be seated and provide Salle Neige with a distinctive character. In Salle Neige staff bring guests to their tables.

Balcon Noir
From Bar Rouge guests walk via the Balcon Noir towards the stairs that lead to Salle Neige. On both sides of Salle Neige there are a total of six VIP booths that can be booked individually. Deep black lounge sofas, separated by steel mesh curtains, a silver ceiling and warm lighting create an exclusive and intimate atmosphere in each booth.

Salle Neige

When descending the glass stairs to Salle Neige, guests end up at the stage next to the DJ. Here everyone is in the spotlight and becomes part of the unique supperclub experience. In Salle Neige white beds have been replaced by deep white lounge sofas and tables from which dinner is served. There are more table setups available in the centre of the space through the use of chrome booths and a communal catwalk table. The walls are white and illuminated by RGB LEDs so that they can be transformed into every possible colour. The floor is white carrera marble. Salle Neige flows over into the outside as a terrace.

Chef’s table
Adjacent to Salle Neige is a large open kitchen where the chef and his team prepare dinner. The kitchen accommodates two chef’s tables that allow guests to join the chef in his domain. To increase the kitchen experience, the floor consists of black and white marble tiles. Other parts of the kitchen are mainly equipped in stainless steel, while the ceiling and walls are black.

Salle d’Or
Behind the kitchen at a higher level is the Salle d’Or. Characterised by its many gold features, this VIP space looks out over the open kitchen towards Salle Neige. The VIP space can be rented as a whole and features one large booth; it can also be used for dining for large groups. The floor is made of travertine, the walls are gold-coloured glass and the ceiling is covered in gold reflecting lamps. Salle d’Or also has its own wine cabinets that can be filled according to taste for the VIP guests.

Wine cellar
The wine cellar is connected to the Salle d’Or and has the same finish. It contains rows of attractive brass wine cabinets where guests can choose their own wines.

Toilets
In the Arab world, the ladies’ room also functions as a meeting place. This is why the level of luxury here is so high: Chrome cabinets with extra large perfume bottles create an intimate zone, including space for a table with six vanity units, and sofas where guests can enjoy small talk.
