Article source: OHArchitecture “Hair salon surrounding a big table” It is a plan of the hair salon in Moriyama-shi, Shiga. We considered the possibility of the hair salon to a town at the Moriyama-city which is a suburban city. We design not unusual hair salon which is often located in urban areas, but local adhesion type hair salon into which neighboring people go in spite of themselves and was homely and open to town.
We designed one big table at the center of this salon. This table became a cut space, and it became a nail space, became a waiting space, that is a hair salon which all visitors surround this table and sits down. We thought that communication was designed among visitors by sharing one big table all together. Visitors’ loose relation is produced in this hair salon. And this hair salon provides opportunityto form a community. In this hair salon we aimed to create a space where communication like the housewives’ gossip which is rooted in people’s life deeply to happens, and where visitors gather. Contact OHArchitecture
