Article source: Atelier I-N-D-J G九成都 or G9 Chengdu – sits like a jewel lined cave directly adjacent to the luxury woman’s wear section of China’s most exclusive and latest department Store: Lane Crawford Chengdu.
G九 is sited to give rest bite and sustenance to eager shoppers during the day, whilst by night becomes a destination restaurant in itself serving an innovative cuisine and experience that the G brand is famous for. At a mere 183sqm, G九 occupies a dogleg shaped site, whose smaller end serves as night time entry and bar space, whilst the main dining space opens up to the department store by day, with concertina doors paneled with industrial glass that blurs the surroundings beyond. A mix of shimmering materials, aged mirror, industrial wire glass and blackened steel completes a composition that alludes to a sense of glamorous mystique. Brass rods adorn the walls and are backed by aged mirror that give depth and a dynamic moire effect. Bespoke lighting designed by our studio is inspired by the old adage that ‘diamonds are a girls best friend’ consist of a pure crystalline bar of acrylic, with concealed LED unit that diffuses light through the body of the pendant, casting an even warm glow.
