Article source: OHArchitecture “white & gray hair salon” A hair salon project in a center of Osaka, sonezaki. Client’s request was only one point, make the white space that the color of the hair and the color of the skin of the customer look conspicuous and beautiful.
It was expected that plan by considerable low cost is necessary from the shown budget. And we were requested to plan an expanse in the small site. It is easy to plan simple white space as requested. But I thought the hair salon which raises customer’s feeling wasn’t only with that. Our suggestion was to make gray space, contrasted in white space. We divided a hair salon into white space and gray space. Cut space was planned in white space, shampoo space, waiting space and other functions were planned in the gray space. When space is separated directly for a wall, it becomes smaller. So wall is held at a minimum, and We thought a floor, wall and any other parts is separated to white and gray space by painting, it considering low cost. When entering from other gray space to white cut space, the white will be stands out further. We designed the space where an expanse can be felt in small space by paint and separating space to white and gray, it produced depth of the space. We planned hair salon that customer will be looks cleaner and satisfied, by making the white space more special white space. Contact OHArchitecture
