Mahir Lokantası where you can find Turkish traditional cuisine is located in Nisantasi, one of the most fashionable neigbourhoods of Istanbul.
The main idea for this project was to create a stylish yet accessible restaurant that felt comfortable for its customers with its warm atmosphere.
Warm colors and wood were used as part of the guiding principle for the overall design. Brass is the supporting material providing warmth in the lighting design as well as the Art Deco style entrance door.
The space is located on a street corner and its façade, designed in two sections optimizes the sunlight. The ceiling too is upgraded in order to achieve a more open and transparent space image when viewed from the outside.
To set the pizza oven apart from other traditional pizza ovens, it is embedded in a niche, then covered with the same ceramic tiles used on one of the walls of the restaurant. The oven, easily visible from the outside, ‘whets the appetite’ of the passersby and serves the ‘stylish and inviting’ premise of the restaurant.
