Article source: Demax Designs The most recent location of the now world famous Nandos Restaurant Chain has opened on Parliament Street in Harrogate. As part of the development, Demax Stairs were approached by STAC Architects to provide a staircase which was a little ‘different’. Whilst the available space was restricted with walls on three sides, the staircase still needed to be eye catching and become a statement piece for both customers and staff alike. 3D Renders were produced of various designs to give an idea how to best utilise the space.  Image Courtesy © Demax Designs In the final design and subsequent creation, a metal carcass was clad with bitch ply sub layers to create an interleafed effect and then each stair tread topped with an American white oak as the finishing touch. This white oak is hard wearing and is perfect for the consistent use in busy commercial environments.  Image Courtesy © Demax Designs The outer spiral is wrapped in steel for additional structural support. Finally a 42Ø Mild Steel handrail was hand wrapped in leather to create a warm touch and a very on-trend look that has been very popular this year.The final result is simply stunning with the warms tones of wood and leather contrasted against the mild steel. Giving the perfect Mediterranean style that Nandos desire for all of their restaurants.  Image Courtesy © Demax Designs Due to the rush nature of this project, Demax designed, built and installed this staircase in little over 5 weeks on what ended up being a very short turn around. The design of staircase has now been christened the STAC and Demax ae already developing a straight tread version to show off to clients. About Demax Demax produce staircases of the highest quality. Nando’s specializes in chicken dishes with lemon and herb, mango and lime, medium, hot, extra hot or extra extra hot peri-peri marinades (properly known as Galinha à Africana). In some countries, Nando’s has other flavour options such as Mediterranean.
