Business center with a pool in Saint Petersburg, Russia by za bor architectsMarch 13th, 2016 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: za bor architects The design solution of the business center in St. Petersburg has been developed for quite a large site which doesn’t have any essential changes of the area topography. It is supposed to build a separate three-storied building in the form of a simple, uniform volume with a monolithic framework. It is going to be used only by the company which owns it, so it has no areas for rent.
The structure outlay represents a wide rectangle with an atrium in the center which contains vertical communications (such as ladders and elevators). The facade is completely glazed and has decorative balconies and canopies. (the glazing is standard: post-and-lintel system, with a small percentage of window openings). Thus, the whole house volume looks transparent and open. In order to provide the central part of the building with natural light an atrium is built which contains translucent structures. This solution gives a possibility to also use elevators with panoramic glazing. According to the design solution, the ground floor of the public zones is intended for informal meetings: except for the receptionist stand, on the first floor there will be a cafe, technical premises and a big swimming pool. From the outer side of the building it is adjoined by a decorative reservoir, which allows to create the effect of a large water space on both sides of the glass wall. At night the external pool is illuminated, and in winter it is heated. On the first and second floor there are open office spaces. The area of each each of the three floors is about 1000 sq.m.
