Article source: Mbad Architects The assignment was to reform and expand a property (housing) with protection value grade 3 (low) within the buildings listed as national heritage for its architectural value in the historical process of the city, changing its destination housing offices, thus resolving the installation of the new headquarters of the PUBLICIS IMPETU MONTEVIDEO URUGUAY.
The property had some characteristics that made it difficult today a successful domestic program: its original central character and equidistant from the edges on a large campus today surrounded by physical presence of limits in its original condition didn’t exist, implementation generated at first some difficulties. In this context, the challenge was to address the possibility of superimposing an \”architectural existing object \” a change of destination and functional adaptation, seeking the intervention achieve a \”new single object\” that does not replicate or blends, but assumes its contemporary condition, living past and present facing a new immediate future. The proposal seeks to meet the functional requirements of the \”new program\” that will give meaning to custom, prioritizing (old plus new) total object that is being considered. From a primary study of the current operation of the agency, necessary to establish relations program from variations in their functional hierarchy were detected. The project explores austere, practical and traditional resources of our market and looking through basic handling generate contemporary aesthetic resources and strengthen its history. Alternating empty and full modules in plan and elevation, generating a random but orderly and controlled while image.
