Article source: mecanoo Mecanoo created the design for “A different vision on fashion photography” a large-scale travelling retrospective of the multi-faceted oeuvre of German photographer Peter Lindbergh.
Peter Lindbergh is today regarded as one of the most influential fashion photographers of the past forty years. His pure black-and-white photographs have determined the course of fashion photography since the 1980s. The exhibition features more than 220 photographs including exclusive material varying from personal notes, storyboards, props, polaroids, contact sheets and films to monumental prints. The exhibition is presented in a thematic approach, marking Lindbergh’s creative development and focusing on his themes, imaginary world, and passions through the years. Mecanoo designed nine different sections, each with their own identity, yet all responding to the aesthetic of Lindbergh’s work. The experience of the black-and-white photography is enhanced through a clever play of light and darkness. The exhibition was initiated and produced by Kunsthal Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where it will be on display from September 2016 until February 2017. In 2017, the exhibition will be shown at Künsthalle München, Germany. Contact mecanoo
