Boulevard Bratianu is one of the most remarkable avenues of the Romanian Capital Bucharest. It connects central Piata Unirii, the unification square, with the University and is home to international luxury hotels as well as the biggest Shopping centers. On this prestigious street, investor Media One rehabilitated and extended the existing Coltea offices building (built at the beginning of last century, later disastrous modified in two phases).
Planned by the architects of Kub Planning, the rehabilitation works lasted between 2014 and 2015. It is a slim structure, consisting of six stories and a penthouse on floor seven. Its remarkable looks are characterized by a combination of a glass façade before traditional brick walls.
Reconfiguration of the existing tedious facade (that became the interior facade) consists in restoring the original image of the facade (from the beginning of last century but with no original elements anymore, just plaster and modified rectangle windows);
The extension with a transparent glass façade generated a dialog, a play of layers (remodeled existing façade – now interior wall and the new transparent façade); Installing an exterior, panoramic elevator made the circulation more effective and the façade alive.
