Article source: JURAJ TESÁK ARCHITEKTI Budka 22 is a place for people who want to change the world around them for the better. Social responsibility, the environment and environmental solutions are issues with which residents of Budka 22 not only deal with, but they primarily live them. Their own work space must therefore reflect these values and have been designed with respect to them. The aim of the project was the reconstruction of the old townhouse for Green Foundation. In cooperation with the Institute of the Circular Economy, the reconstruction work was minimized to the minimum necessary, but with regard to the function and visual presentation of the concept.
Only the elements that had to be replaced were exchanged, and everything that could be preserved was refurbished, giving the whole interior a special character. The whole space is shared by several environmental organizations. The house consists of 4 floors, of which the upper two are devoted to the working environment and the lower two are designed as a space with social and community functions. The central element of the building is the central staircase that connects the working space with the community area and promotes dialogue and interactions between organizations and people. The second underground floor has the character of a literary club with direct contact to the garden. On the first underground floor there is community kitchen used by residents of Budka 22, where they have the opportunity to meet and discuss common themes. There is also an event room with a capacity of approximately 40 people. On the first over ground floor there is a working space for residents, Hot desk and Silent room. The second over ground floor contains of the offices for residents and there is also a large meeting room for 6 to 10 people. Working areas on all the floors provide different types of work places that allows sitting or standing by the table or enjoying brainstorming ad hoc activities on the comfortable couch. In the whole project the emphasis was placed on the usage of eco and bio materials. As space is shared by different organizations, the colour of the entire interior is carried in neutral tones.
