Article source: NZI Architectes Working for children requires designing places with both soft and playful atmospheres, conducive to the awakening of children and their well-being. The idea here is to constitute a protective place but turned outward. Internal circulations are treated as places of life and passages, naturally lit, appropriated by staff and children. The staff will be able to easily supervise children. Throug the circulations, the interior of each room is visible.
For this, we have organized a compact plan through two axes, on which we graft the elements of the program:
The patio a multi-faceted tool brings a maximum of natural light and transparency from its central position. At the heart of the equipment, it allows to organize the various programmatic elements. Thus the lobby, all circulations and the reception area benefit from natural light as well as children’s changing rooms. This patio, can, among other things, host specific activities such as small educational gardens (vegetal development, recovery of rainwater recovered, etc.), to be fed by small groups and to be a showcase of activities developed by small . Shrubs are planted there. Materials The envelope consists of insulated wood frame walls. The roof is supported by a traditional frame. Inside, noble materials such as wood are part of the composition. In facade we favor lines clean and minimalist treatment. Smooth and white plaster walls are punctuated by generous windows of aluminum curtain wall type on a wood structure height. Acoustic issue The location of the equipment near Roissy airport requires us to look closely at this point. The acoustic performances are evaluated according to two criteria, the insulation vis-à-vis the airborne noise and the insulation vis-à-vis the noise of shocks. The dormitory, not requiring natural light, is not proposed in frontage. This allows acoustic protection vis-à-vis the outside (cars to future municipal workshops, deliveries, maintenance, etc …) In the same way, separations between rooms are proposed in light partitions, which makes it possible to provide flexibility for interior fittings.
