Article source: studio-a29 Magazzin is the operational headquarters of the Cooperativa Arcobaleno and the Orti Goriziani, located in the heart of Gorizia in a former stable. The structure has been restored with an industrial character to make the building contemporary and suitable for the hosted functions. The structural freedom in the plan has given the possibility to transform the existing building into a large open space designed to accommodate three operational functions: • Coworking The hierarchy of functions determined the character of the project and its physiognomy, turning needs into opportunities.
The desire not to deform the plant with the use of permanent vertical partitions, to preserve its architectural freedom to the maximum and not to contaminate its spatial dynamism suggested the use of theatrical architectural language as a formal solution suitable to the needs requested by the client. A large theatrical backdrop has been created along the entire perimeter wall characterized by the serigraphy representing a still life designed by the artist Davide Comelli under the instruction of the Studio-A29. The backdrop has two functions. When it is down its design is giving color and shape to a rigid and formal space of the operational headquarters. However, when is up reveals the hidden exhibition/sales area. By simply raising and lowering the theatrical backdrop space quickly and easily can change its function depending on need a bit like a chameleon changes its color in nature. Although the architectural solution seems to be minimal the obtained effect is on its maximum. Contact studio-a29
