Article source: MESURA The primary sign that the concept of work and the way of conceptualising office spaces has changed, is probably embodied in the appearance of the freelancer: An individualist concept of work that depends on collaboration. They are the people who no longer work inside an office space for a big corporation, but rather inside a café, on some faraway island, or inside a coworking: a space acknowledging that there is a need for people to be around others, even while working.
When designing a workspace, two different functions coexist within one area. On the one hand, users need an atmosphere where they can work and focus – A comfortable private space meant to work alone, communicate digitally, and organize meetings. On the other, they need a more open space to disconnect, recharge and be social – A space closer to a home rather than office. The concept design of Cloud Coworking is based on this dual necessity for the workspace. It uses wood, textile floors and dark colours for private working areas, accenting an atmosphere of seclusion and concentration, while bright colours and open sections define the communal spaces meant to take a break and talk to others.
