Atípico – Parque la Mexicana in Mexico City, Mexico by Boutique de ArquitecturaJuly 25th, 2019 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: Boutique de Arquitectura This project is nestled in La Mexicana, an urban park in the west side of Mexico City. To make it possible for the clientele to enjoy the surroundings and vegetation, the park was brought inside the restaurant by opening grand side to side windows in order to live the interior space like the exterior. In the same way some American ash trees were placed inside, as well as some domes in the lounge area, to reaffirm the intended transparency and connection.
The representative icon of the brand comes from the hexagonal shape as a symbol of what is different and atypical. These geometric pieces can be seen up and long the dining room generating different heights and depths in the main corridor. The interior design embodies the experimental kitchen and organic supplies premise that distinguishes Atípico restaurant. Natural materials such as oak wood cover different walls and the bar top, making contrast with the black stone floor and apparent concrete plafond. The lighting project was developed with special care and it is divided in in layers that allow to control 4 different ambiances depending on the time and day of the restaurant´s operation. Blown Spanish glass suspended lamps get the attention in the main lounge as well as the golden sparks of the lamps on the bar that has an absolute black granite top matt leather finish, the sum of these glows contrasts the sober design giving an elegant wink to the décor. The architectural programme included all the operational details and kitchen assembly. The project was done in 6 weeks achieving its start-up timely and due in form. Contact Boutique de Arquitectura
