Article source: SP62 Architecture Our history with Geekie begins in 2015, when the company developed an educational platform. With the office growing and gaining partners, the then startup company needed to set up its headquarters. For 2020, impacting 12 million students, the company expanded. A space for 180 people to work, with the concept of open tables, meeting rooms with different functionalities and an auditorium for larger events. The idea was to create a space on the ground floor to receive teachers and school principals from all over Brazil, so we created a prototype classroom and distinct from what is known as a “classroom”. In it, the slates accompany the walls, and come out from behind the teacher.
A free layout with smaller tables, which can be organized in larger or smaller groups, also serving for a single student. The free tables in the lounge also follow flexibility and can move around as needed. For the auditorium, we created a half moon stage, where the line was followed to create the benches, which together line up perfectly, and can also be arranged separately. The auditorium, which also serves as a break area, lounge and pantry, received a bookcase designed around the central shaft window, allowing natural light to enter the room. As a partition between the pantry and the auditorium, we designed a slatted panel with the company logo. On the upper floor, the corporate environment gains clarity with the apparent white slab, thus improving lighting. “Aquarium” meeting rooms make the environment lighter and more transparent. On the facade, we created a line that rises on the ground and points to the sky, with the company’s color. To create an allusion to the arrow, we incline the plateau. The concept means that ingrained quality education has no limits. Geekie is one of the winners of the Qatar Foundation’s Wise Awards of 2016. Contact SP62 Architecture
