Sumit Singhal loves modern architecture. He comes from a family of builders who have built more than 20 projects in the last ten years near Delhi in India. Developed from the simplicity of the Modern-Minimal Style, the house is decorated with only a few numbers of items, yet all are incredibly unique and reflective of the owner’s character. Unintentionally, the understated elements of modern industrial materials such as steel, mirror, and other materials whose true, natural attributes are left exposed, are combined and integrated to the house’s Mid-Century aesthetics. The house is among over 10 residences the owner owns, and each has its own highly unique character and identify. MAISON T. is designed to be a party house to accommodate gatherings and parties between friends and acquaintances with a high level of privacy and safety in the time of COVID-19. Knowing the owner who is a charming, stylish urbanite, the house’s given nickname ‘Fifty Shades of Grey House’ is something everyone agrees. “The house that confuses the thief.” For someone who has never been inside this residence before, it’s almost impossible to find doors into rooms or even a staircase that leads up to the second floor, not to mention all the secrete chambers that hack into the structural system of this maze-like home. Most of the projects look like something far from an ordinary home inside a suburban housing estate project. It’s the amazing element, the wow factors of our design that hacks the interior spaces and structural system to the point where there are no traces left of what the original designs used to be. Most of our clients come to us with one common wish, and that is for us to ‘hack’ their houses. If a housing estate project refused to allow us to do the ‘hacking,’ our clients would likely decide not to buy the house. What this shows is the real estate projects’ failure to keep up with their own clientele and end up creating products that aren’t able to meet the demands of what we call the ‘New Power’ clients. The process of designing and constructing a house from scratch could take 3-5 years, which doesn’t even guarantee that the house would be complete within the intended schedule, not to mention the budget that could easily get out of control. A housing estate project is a preferable choice for its managerial standard and security, brand image, and the ready-to-use quality that is ideal for homeowners who don’t have that much time to waste. Our team needs less than one year to complete our task and the revamped house is easier to sell because it’s incredibly unique and has everything one needs, making it ready for the new owner to pack their bags and move in!! They don’t overly glorify designers and design, either. One of the things these clients demand is our understanding in their ways of life. It extends beyond a certain style or physical appearance but something hidden deep inside who they are; things that define them…their battles, struggles, how they build themselves up, overcoming obstacles and insults to the point where they’ve accomplished one of their dreams. This is the heart of what HyperHaus is all about. From the outside, the house looks just like any other houses inside a housing estate project, but inside lies an entirely different world. We wipe out almost the entire original interior, enabling the house to reborn as a dream turned reality; the owner’s little own world. This one is for the record…the No.16 of HyperHaus #MaisonT, the simplest house we have ever done so far, is now complete!! But it won’t be the last for this owner. This is only just a ‘prologue’ of an epic journey of his growing collection of homes.
