Article source: Marcelo Salum The Cité Rooftop bar and restaurant is located on the roof of a multifunctional building, which houses apartments and commercial offices in downtown Florianópolis, Brazil. The space previously operated at another address and was inspired by the city of Paris. Making a connection between the previous and the current environment, the initial reference remained the same, but with the addition of new inspirations. The entrance hall, with its contrasting colors and prints and the walls covered by heavy fabric curtains, recalls the private and often secret clubs of the City of Light.
In the main hall, the space format provided a linear organization of the environment, seeking as a reference a train car from the Orient Express. For a greater immersion in the concept, a wagon-shaped structure was proposed around the entire perimeter of the hall. The metallic tubes of the structure also refer to some iconic buildings in Paris, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Grand Palais, and Florianópolis’ famous bridge, Hercílio Luz. There is a large shelf-library on one side of the room, which houses books, works of art, and objects treasured by the owners. The bookcase and the entire metallic structure were painted in a mint tone, referring to the color of the Grand Palais in Paris. The mix of contrasting colors, such as burgundy, orange, and gray, along with mint, and the mix of prints, ranging from animal print to tropical themes, create the atmosphere of drama requested by customers. The lighting project contributed to this aura by incorporating indirect lighting provided by the wall sconces arranged along the length of the shelf. In addition to the main hall, which resembles a restaurant car, the space has a large terrace that surrounds the bar/restaurant. The terrace forms a lounge from which the view of the city can be appreciated. Share this:RelatedContact Marcelo Salum
