Article source: ADDP Architects Award-winning Singaporean architecture firm ADDP Architects today unveils its latest completed project, Park Colonial, a residential condominium consisting of six, 14- and 15-storey residential blocks created with the Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) method and located in the Woodleigh district of Singapore. ADDP Architects was commissioned to serve as the full-service architecture firm from concept design, including interior design, through construction and until completion. For the project, ADDP Architects developed a design scheme and aesthetic that intends to bring tranquility and access to nature into Woodleigh, a bustling district of Singapore, resulting in an innovative residential-living experience for the modern urbanite.
Park Colonial was designed with the PPVC (Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction) building model for which ADDP is known, ensuring better quality control, safety, and the cutback of carbon emissions and material waste. PPVC also offers the ability to also expedite the construction timeline. Park Colonial adopts full-height glazing on the front facade, allowing abundant natural light into the spaces of each unit. Each of its skyscrapers and exterior facades are built mainly with simple materials including concrete, metal and aluminum. Park Colonial draws its inspiration from the quaint but distinguished estate of nearby Woodleigh Park, one of Singapore’s preserved colonial quarters which dates back to as early as the 19th century. The tagline “Heritages of the Past, Present and the Future,” serves as the guiding thematic and design concept of the development, giving birth to a contemporary interpretation of functionality and timeless. The design concept of the development is based upon a modernized version of the city’s Colonial-era architecture and centered around a lush, manicured landscape with gardens and mini-groves that provide shade, fresh air and the feeling of living inside of a park. The project’s landscape architecture is based around an undulating garden of grand raintrees and palm trees, spread over a ground-shape of manicured lawn and sculpted shrubs, grass, stones and gravel. Amongst Park Colonial’s signature design highlights is the 50-meter (165-foot) cantilevered lap pool, stretching beyond the structure’s upper deck and creating the feeling of being jettisoned over the garden. Park Colonial consists of two blocks featuring 14-storey apartment units and four blocks of 15-storey apartments, totalling 805 units (including 15 dual key units). Along with its cantilevered pool, Park Colonial was designed to include a high-volume iconic clubhouse, a gym and tennis court, as well as water features and a fountain. A total of 11 Pavilions with a contemporary Colonial design motif dining features are spread across the property, while two split-level decks span across the entire site. Entire lower and upper landscaped decks have been created to offer communal facilities and birds-eye views of the landscapes gardens. The property’s iconic clubhouse was designed with Colonial-inspired motifs and accentuated with high volume spaces to create an inspiring and relaxing space. ADDP Architects have long been lauded as a leader in sustainable architecture, and have been the recipients of the Guinness World Record, World’s Largest Vertical Garden (2014), Singapore’s Best Innovative Green Building (Gold), MIPIM Asia Awards and ‘BCI Asia’s Top 10 Architectural Firms.
