Among the main qualities of this apartment, it’s possible to recognise that its double ceiling height is one of the most interesting. This project was developed to a couple and their son, seeing a future perspective of a son’s apartment. So, the master bedroom was designed for the son, using a dark wood, a little bit of colour (blue and green) and leather details. At the closet, the ideia was to create a solution which the client could use without the sensation of a small space. So, the open wardrobe system was an interesting solution in this case.
In an early seventies building, we found an uncharacterized apartment, too compartmentalized and with little natural light. The challenge was to bring a contemporary language ensuring the comfort of modern living under controlled costs. Severely constrained by the available space, the highly detailed works of dismantling partition walls and build new space guides brought a new distribution and a smoother transition between rooms. Finding structural walls made of stone and the impossibility of their removal brought a new problem. Keeping the stone visible turned the problem into a solution, marking the character of the space as well as its own uniqueness and exclusivity. Exploring the idea of evolutionary and adaptable architecture, incorporating flexibility into planning and designing, brought in concepts suited to the different requirements of the space appropriation, allowing the use of a hallway as an office or turn a reading area into a guest room. The extreme care of working the light as a shaping element of the space combined with the selection of natural claddings highlights the stone, assuring the elegance and distinction of the different rooms, making the experience of this space absolutely distinctive.
Leading urban design and architecture practice Farrells has unveiled its recently completed One Excellence development, in the heart of Shenzhen’s new Qianhai district and China’s Greater Bay Area. The project totals 757,000m2 and sets a global precedent for future mixed use, high-density urbanism – with social and green space at its heart.
Central to the scheme are the multi-level streetscapes which create lively interplays between different functions to generate vibrant retail spaces. Farrells’s design, which interlocks the towers and streetscapes is conceived as an evolution from the imposing shopping malls and isolated towers that have dominated Shenzhen’s urbanism throughout its initial decades of growth. Green spaces, metro links and multi-level circulation routes weave seamlessly into the pedestrian networks that connect the wider Qianhai district.
The KC Apartment was designed for two sisters, offering a warm and sophisticated space for everyday life. In addition to two suites for the residents, the apartment offers one more suite for their parents, an intimate living room, a living and dining room, office, kitchen and service area. The clients’ style was implemented all throughout the design, providing the project with elegance and a touch of romanticism; while simultaneously combined with the architect’s style – contemporary and clean.

“The goal was to design a contemporary space where the client could feel comfortable and contemplate his sculptures and paintings”, said architect Paola Tuosto.
The ocean is the most striking feature of the landscape surrounding the Sao Felix Apartment. The breathtaking views are accentuated by a rather sober intervention in terms of material expression. The common areas in the apartment (living room, dining room and kitchen) are arranged around a standalone volume, which performs a structural function. The more private areas are showcased by an olive wood volume with a natural texture. This unit houses functions that are usually treated as secondary (bathrooms and technical areas) and serves as a visual counterpoint to the dominance of the sea in the common area. The bedrooms are fitted with simple materials and comfortable furniture to suit their domestic purpose. The Sao Felix Apartment offers an architectural experience based on spatial quality, material restraint and exquisite natural resources in harmonious dialogue with one another.
Indulging in the Sunday pleasure of idleness, a couple observes the effervescence of the Parvis des Nefs. The big elephant leaves the Galerie des Machines. Its gears animate the imposing pachyderm and fascinate young and old. The children are playing. The teens congregate around the benches, and further on, a street fitness session brings together around fifty people. On the horizon, the merry-go-round of the Mondes Marins and the titanic yellow crane punctuate the landscape with their fascinating curiosity. Vast public spaces with evocative names such as the Jardin des Berges, the Jardin des Voyages, the Esplanade des Traceurs de Coques, the Parc des Chantiers, the Terrasse des Vents make up the panorama of the old shipyards of île de Nantes.
That’s right, this is a collection created by both Dushe and the owner in five years
In 2015, when the design of this residential building in the center of Wuhan was started, the owner of Sheng and Si grew up with a unique feeling for such a rare land in the core area. He and his children will live in this project, so they hope to build Wuhan the best residence still 20 years later, and can stand the test of the times. So when the designer wanted to buy and was rejected because it had already been booked, the designer believed that the project met expectations.
