Thursday, September 21st, 2017

Article source: Mimosa architekti

This small bar in the centre of Prague offers especially tea and wine but also delicious coffee. Separately or in various even astonishing combinations. The space concept of travelling through time zones has been derived from its name „Jetlag“. Within this meaning one can “fly through” the entire world only along the whole length of the bar (15 metres).

Sunday, September 17th, 2017

Article source: dongqi Architects

Dongqi Architects transformed and enlarged an old café into a new space with coffee, craft beer、food and bakery in the downtown of Changzhou.

The interior space is an overall “L” shape space. Coffee, craft beer and bakery zones take places separately in the three corners of the “L”. Coffee and craft beer zone have white ceilings and floors, and the bakery zone is a space with black covered all surfaces. The black and white spaces is divided by the curvy ceiling edge and steel wire. The heights of the ceilings on the two sides are different which not only differentiate the spaces according to their functions, but also naturally merge the old space and the new space together into an indivisible whole.

Class Café Buriram in Thailand by SAR (Sake Architects)

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

Article source: SAR (Sake Architects)

In the past couple of years, Buriram has seen the birth of many new architectural structures. Located on the main highway that leads to the city center, Class Cafe occupies the once old and unused building and is now turning into a new destination of this northeastern city’s inhabitants. As the first branch outside of Nakhon Ratchasima, the neighboring province where the coffee house brand is originated, the project’s owner’ brief includes the wish to have the old-looking structure wrapped with the new building shell with the current architectural trends being the references. Looking through the structure’s physical conditions into the actual demands of both the project’s users and owner, the architect proposes the idea that is later materialized into the design of the building.

Unit cafe in Kiev, Ukraine by TSEH Architectural Group

Friday, September 8th, 2017

Article source: TSEH Architectural Group

The cafe ‘Unit’ became one of the objects of the revitalization project of the part of the plant in Kiev and our team was working on it. This cafe is for students who study at IT-school ‘Unit Factory’. In the beginning we did not plan to build it. But while working on the IT-school project, we understood that there was not so much space  for a big canteen or a cafeteria in the reconstructed building. Then we decided to offer the investor to locate the cafe apart. We told about the opportunity to use sea containers and after sketches we got the approval for preparing detailed documents. The cafe became a peculiar business card, a bright spot. Residents, students and other people eat, have meetings, discuss business and get acquainted informally on the territory of Unit City –  the name that was given to the territory of the revitalization. Fourteen sea containers were used in the implementation of the Unit Cafe project. One of them is vertical and there is a staircase in it. On the first floor there is an open terrace that is located in the console way above the ground floor. The console of the first floor is 7,5 metres. It has a great  school and business centers views. There is water from the one side and it leads to the bridge entrance. Exterior and interior have something in common. A bright green container (the first floor) is partly painted in this colour, too. There are comfortable sofas, tables with chairs and plants on the ground and on the first floors . There is a kitchen, a lavatory and pantries on the ground floor.  The total area of the cafe is 275 m2.

ISKRA Cafe in Moscow, Russian Federation by Nowadays Office

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

Article source: Nowadays Office

A double-leveled café and bar ‘Iskra’ (‘Sparkle’), serving grilled chicken and a variety of sparkling wines, is located in one of the most authentic neighbourhoods in Moscow. Kitai-Gorod is a part of the old city, once hidden behind the vallum that adjoined the Kremlin. Pokrovka 38A is a classicist building constructed in the late XVIII century that used to be the private residence of a noble Moscow family. After the building was nationalised by the Soviet government, a light and spacious bedroom with a vaulted ceiling — taking up 35 sq m of the ground floor — was turned into a local dairy shop. This space is now Iskra’s upper level café with a secret bar (ironically called ‘Public Bar’) occupying the basement beneath.

Dyson Campus Expansion in Malmesbury, England by WilkinsonEyre

Wednesday, August 9th, 2017

Article source: WilkinsonEyre

At the time that WilkinsonEyre was invited to design this new factory and headquarters building, Dyson was one of the fastest growing companies in the UK. The new development therefore needed to embrace an extensive range of uses and be built and occupied in a rolling programme. Our original masterplan for the overall site optimised the layout of a range of functions whilst incorporating flexibility for future expansion.

The design created an exciting yet economical space with an undulating wave form roof which ‘floats’ above the trees, disguising the bulk of the factory.

Article source: studioenricopasti

The NOBIS CAFE ‘project, born in the historic center of the city of Verona, is housed inside a historic building, where the same masonry of the 1500s is brought to the sight to create a contrast to the rest of the room.

We wanted to create a contrast between the historicity of the building and the search for materials with a strong personality.
