Organic Cafe in Hanoi, Vietnam by G8A Architecture & Urban Planning

Monday, March 2nd, 2020

Article source: G8A Architecture & Urban Planning

Density has always been a strong characteristic in the design problematic of Hanoi, historically horizontal condensation has been the phenomena and more recently a new vertical layer of construction has come to intensify the development of the capital. Contrasting the habitual trend of compacting built density, the Organic Café plays with architectural distinctions to propose a resilient microcosm within the urban context.

Unibrown Coffe – Touching Store in Shanghai, China by Mur Mur Lab

Wednesday, February 26th, 2020

Article source: Mur Mur Lab

Despite several manuscripts, the space in the center for only one person has not changed. It looks like a monument, and it make surrounding objects become meaningful.

Inside the 1 m2 room called ‘Moment’, there will be an exhibition about Mur Mur Lab and Unibrown. We will start a discussion of the relationship between coffee, construction and the flowing of the space, and it is also about connection between the ‘time’ and ‘personal identity’.

Through the folds that looks like the curtain of veil, we often watch the looming crowd, the spread of the terrace and the greenery outside the window. The noise and jolly time belong to the outside world, but the quietness and serenity belongs to inside world, like being on the mountaintop.

Coffeebar in Menlo Park, California by Warner Architects and Nicole Hollis

Monday, February 24th, 2020

Article source: Walker Warner Architects

Coffeebar is a contemporary space in the heart of Silicon Valley’s venture capital center, Menlo Park, California. The design teams collaborated with Coffeebar founder Greg Buchheister to reimagine a building that was once a nail salon and an Asian food market into a curated, modern café that would draw in commuters and residents alike. The exterior was transformed from a simple commodity building to a bespoke retail destination. A simple material palette of steel, cypress, and glass creates a contemporary ambiance while offering durability in a heavy traffic environment. Elliptically-shaped, exterior wooden louvers float in front of the oversized glass windows and doors to provide sun protection and soft natural light into the interior. The steel trim and blackened standing-seam metal panels convey a sophisticated, industrial quality that complements the interiors.

Jiangyin Greenway in China by Brearley Architects & Urbanists

Sunday, February 2nd, 2020

Article source: Brearley Architects & Urbanists

Weaving And Stitching

The Jiangyin Greenway belongs to a growing movement in China towards healthy, sustainable transportation and urban enjoyment. Infrastructure of this scale has an opportunity, or more correctly a responsibility, to create meaningful places in the city. It is also seen as an opportunity for Jiangyin to assert itself as a creative, progressive and livable city.

Consequently, it will consist of four clearly identifiable segments, each with a unique response to the spirit of the place in which it is located. The north segment of the loop has already been built and passes through the docklands parks. It responds to the history of shipbuilding and its port function. This project, the eastern segment of the loop, leads to the Yangtze River, the river to which Jiangyin owes its existence. Consequently, this segment will respond to the significance of the Yangtze River.

Karavaan in Amsterdam, The Netherlands by STUDIO MODIJEFSKY

Friday, January 31st, 2020

Article source: STUDIO MODIJEFSKY

A new exciting venue has opened its doors in Amsterdam West: Karavaan. This place can be anything you want it to be – all day hangout, bar, your morning coffee place, the spot for Friday night drinks, a neighbourhood cafe for locals, city oasis, cocktail bar, breakfast club, but also your favourite venue for a good meal. Karavaan is all these things in one.

Kwakersplein – the square where the venue is located – has been transformed throughout history. Initially a polder area outside Amsterdam’s old city limits, it became a part of the Bellamy neighbourhood after being dammed in the 19th century. Ever since, people have been migrating towards this spot, just like a Karavaan (Dutch for caravan), but this time to settle for good.

Intive office – space for personality in Wrocław, Poland by MIXD

Tuesday, January 21st, 2020

Article source: MIXD

MIXD specializes in hotel design, which is why the design of the Intive office in Wroclaw is based on concept of hospitality. This includes accepting a man as he is. Hospitality is a mixture containing empathy, respect for individualism, fun and sharing experiences. Such an office raises positive emotions, strengthens relationships between people, creates a good work environment.

“People are the center of our company. Without them, we would only have empty chairs in our offices, and the products we create would not have users. \”- these are the words of Ludovic Gaude, the founder of intive. It is not surprising that for this investor more important than the design \”fireworks\” was the well-being of employees, creating a space to implement their passion and expressing personality.

MIXD designers focused on a diverse, flexible space, but also with a powerful “cool factor”, allowing young programmers to identify with this place. They also enlarged and opened up the maximum of shared office spaces to give numerous teams the opportunity to meet, talk, get to know each other better, and spend time together. After all, it is known for a long time that the best parties are happening in the kitchen… Finally, they invited a group of intive employees to take part in Culture Club® workshops, allowing them to share their ideas for organizing the office. The creation of the concept took MIXD only about 3 months – the work was carried out very quickly, in stages of 2-3 weeks. This way of working is the Design Cycles® method used by MIXD – a design process divided into three parts. Later, as a design manager, MIXD designer supervised the entire process of equipment and assembly – floors, ceilings, lighting, murals, fixed and movable furniture.
