Jerusalem International Congress Center (ICC) in Israel by Studio Fuksas

Thursday, April 18th, 2019

Article source: Studio Fuksas

Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas have been selected to build the new International Congress Center [ICC] of Jerusalem, one of the most attractive cities in the world, for its history, its position and its wonderful climate, to hold large international events.

The ICC Jerusalem is located in the “City Gateway”, a district characterized by the presence of financial, commercial, cultural, tourist and entertainment activities, destined to become the new gateway to the city of Jerusalem. The “City Gateway” constitutes the expansion of the “Central Business District” – CBD, which extends from Yafo Street to the Government Center and the National Museum. The goal of the project is to consolidate and expand the cultural vocation of the district.

The new International Congress Center will be built around the existing Ussishkin Hall Building, which will be redesigned to host international shows and conferences. Thanks to this expansion, the Jerusalem ICC will become the largest conference center in the Middle East.

Mission Park in Santa Clara, California by BCV Architecture + Interiors

Thursday, April 4th, 2019

Article source: BCV Architecture + Interiors

BCV Architecture + Interiors was hired to design the brand-new 24,000-square-foot retail center at Mission Park in Santa Clara, California. The project will add a variety of retail and food & beverage offerings, providing a much-needed social hub that is walkable and amenity-rich.

The 46-acre office campus in the heart of the Silicon Valley exemplifies the evolution of retail and growing trend of suburban urbanization in the area— transitioning from a spread-out and disconnected region to an increasingly dense and community-oriented one. In fact, three office buildings were razed to accommodate the new retail center, an almost unheard-of phenomenon in a tech hot spot where the demand for office space is becoming insatiable.

Muangthongthani Carcare in Nonthaburi, Thailand by Archimontage Design Fields Sophisticated

Friday, March 15th, 2019

Article source: Archimontage Design Fields Sophisticated

The building is located on a 300 square-meter plot of land. This long and narrow plot requires an in-depth organization of the building. The façade of the building faces south while the other side faces east The neighboring building is a car care center which belongs to the same owner. Since the space of the car care center is too limited, mainly because of the closed coating area where protection from dust is much needed, a new space is necessary for project expansion.

Hannae Forest of Wisdom in Seoul, South Korea by Unsangdong Architects

Sunday, March 10th, 2019

Article source: Unsangdong Architects

Hannae Forest of Wisdom is not a cultural space generated by a big public development project. It was initiated by the idea of a creative space, where people enjoy to inhabit and willing to come back every day. Therefore we improved an abandoned urban space into a unique and attractive space with creative ideas. Development Order is as follow: 1) Requested by Nowon-gu Office as part of the community project 2) There were several options for the site, and through investigation and site analysis, an abandoned fountain space in a neighborhood park was selected 3) Opinion gathered through public hearing 4) Design and development 5) Construction 6) Completion 7) Local committee operates the library, café, and after-school learning class Urban regeneration in Seoul is no longer focused on the city-scale projects that transforms the entire block or the part of the city. Rather it happens through small projects on an abandoned site, through which the local people can reconnect themselves to the society.

Bonneuil’s Leisure Center in France by NZI Architectes

Friday, March 1st, 2019

Article source: NZI Architectes

Working for children requires designing places with both soft and playful atmospheres, conducive to the awakening of children and their well-being. The idea here is to constitute a protective place but turned outward.

Internal circulations are treated as places of life and passages, naturally lit, appropriated by staff and children. The staff will be able to easily supervise children. Throug the circulations, the interior of each room is visible.

Odeyto Indigenous Centre in Toronto, Canada by GOW HASTINGS ARCHITECTS

Friday, February 22nd, 2019

Article source: GOW HASTINGS ARCHITECTS

The Odeyto Indigenous Centre at Seneca College’s Newnham Campus is a home away from home for the FirstPeoples@Seneca.

Conceptually, the addition and renovation are inspired by the image of a canoe pulling up to a dock, stopping at Seneca College to gather knowledge before continuing on life’s journey. The canoe-like form docks alongside the contrasting rigid lines of the existing precast concrete building. As the only building on campus with an organic curvilinear design, Odeyto breaks away from the colonial grid that dominates on the campus.
