Beauty, health and well-being are some of the terms that are both debated and recurrent present in the history of humanity; Clinique La Prairie, with its first Aesthetics & Longevity center outside of Switzerland, located in the center of Madrid, wants to continue being identified with these concepts. As pioneers in cell therapies who are considering acting against the aging process, where technical innovation is at the level of medical care, this Clinique is linked to a sophisticated luxury hospitality, this is where the challenge of this project seems to be: how to translate and build all these concepts to the space / time of an aesthetic medicine clinic?
Today cosmetic surgery is considered more than just a cure of beauty and desire. It is transformed into an aesthetically procedure sculpting a piece of art onto a human body. Consequently, at WONJIN clinic, the design team targets the impression of a studio and surgery gallery.
The Comisura Dental Surgery arises from the reform of a business premises in the city of Elda (Alicante, Spain). The project is centred on a well defined objective: that the architecture, along with the professional team, can generate positive experiences. Our aim was for a sensory change for the patients visiting a dental surgery, creating a quiet, friendly and optimistic environment.
The design covers 185 metres square spread out on two floors. The main floor, where the dentistry activities of the surgery are carried out, is taken up with the reception, waiting room, office, bathrooms, four dental surgeries, TAC room, sterilisation room and laboratory. The first floor, with a more private character, is distributed between the staff room, dressing room, private bathroom, machinery room and a large room for meetings and training.
Architecture is seeing birth and making life projects happen. And if so, this is undoubtedly an excellent example. An open space, ready to receive such important areas as physical rehabilitation, women’s health, baby’s health, family health, well-being and nutrition. These are some of the areas that combined with a simple and committed working spirit, direct and without prejudice make the image of this clinic.
The key concepts for the development of this clinic begin with neutrality and minimalism (technical floors, white walls and clean lines), combined with the warmth of the reception (woods and fabrics) and the workforce (ropes), without forgetting that we are an integral part of everything which is natural (stone and plants).
Located in the center of the city, the project arises to give response to a new clinic whose values are based on an extremely personalized treatment to the client. The layout of the building, which dates from the beginning of the last century, conditioned the distribution.
It was decided to unify the color of walls, floor and ceiling, using a continuous pavement designed by the studio. The tone of this material is applied to the lacquering of the wooden panels and the painting of the walls, to the solid surface of the counter tops, to the faucets, the push-buttons … etc. favoring an environment that responded to the idea of the owners. This dark gray tone intentionally contrasts with the necessary dental care devices, which are shown this way as the main elements of the activity. The irregular space is solved with the entrance hall, creating an interesting perception of space.

This is a dental clinic. This architecture is in a rural area where there was no dental clinic.
This clinic is a wooden flat. It is one of the local medical centers for people living in this area, especially for the elderly and children. The floor is 80cm above the ground because it is potentially flooded, but it is a one-storied house with large windows and a lot of wood on the outer wall to create an atmosphere that is easy for locals to enter. Wood and plaster are used as interior materials to soften the indoor atmosphere. There is a skylight in the examination room and you can see the sun and the sky. Even people who are not good at treating teeth can relax.
