Wetropolis images in Bangkok, Thailand by S+PBA

A Post-Diluvian Future

While most of the world follows the standard from dust to dust, ashes to ashes cycle, Bangkok prefers something wetter: from water to water. Almost 300 years after rising from the marshy banks of the Chao Phraya, it appears Bangkok will return to its watery origins. A recent UN study estimates that much of the metropolitan area will need to be abandoned by the middle of the century.

Blaas general partnership in Bolzano, Italy by monovolume architecture + design

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

Article source: monovolume architecture + design

The company Blaas in Bolzano is specialized in electro-mechanics. In the new head office the company presents its new product range and offers repair service.

On the ground floor of the building there is the sales division, on the first floor the exposition area and the repair shop. All administration offices are located on the second floor. The overall impression of the structure is a homogenous and closed building. Nevertheless, there exists a separation between the public and the private sector. The client can perceive this clear and formal internal division already from the outside.

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

Article source: AllesWirdGut Architektur ZT GmbH

The new office and shopping building fits in with the typology of detached townhouses in the neighborhood. Slight twists of the basic volume actively impact the surrounding urban fabric: A bent in the longitudinal facade line relates the building to its surroundings, consolidating the adjacent streets and creating a usable plaza before the building.
