Ningbo-based Innovation Centre in China by RMJM

Wednesday, September 9th, 2020

Article source: RMJM

RMJM RED have won a competition for a mixed-use development that will become the Ningbo Yongjiang Innovation Centre. The studio’s design is a response to the unique setting that is at a threshold between the urban and the natural. The site is framed by Zhongshan East road to the south and Houtang River to the north. The team envisaged the development as an archipelago of islands rising out of and energised by the river. The arrangement of these building ‘islands’ encourages unrestricted movement around the development at the ground level and offers a unique street-level experience.

9th & Thomas in Seattle, Washington by Olson Kundig

Wednesday, February 19th, 2020

Article source: Olson Kundig

“The transparent and accessible podium level of 9th & Thomas is articulated in an eclectic style that references the evolutionary process of a community like South Lake Union. The building has parts and pieces that move and change, open and close. It’s intentionally inviting walk-in traffic, and my hope is that the public lobby slows down the neighborhood and establishes a sense of place.” – Tom Kundig, FAIA, RIBA, Design Principal
