MAYER H., the ‘Schaustelle’ or ‘show site’ will be a temporary pavilion and platform for the four collections housed at the Pinakothek der Moderne. Munich, 12 July 2012, In an official statement, Dr. Markus Michalke, Chairman of the Pinakothek der Moderne Foundation announced: The Pinakothek der Moderne is due to close in February 2013 for renovation work and is expected to reopen again in September 2013. The temporary closure has been seen as an opportunity that will give rise to a makeshift exhibition building – the Schaustelle. Set up for the duration of the renovations, it will provide the four collections at the Pinakothek der Moderne with a lively platform to hold exhibitions, workshops, talks, performances, film screenings and video installations and much more besides. Bio-Lake Reception Center in Hubei, China by Zephyr ArchitectsWednesday, June 6th, 2012Article source: Zephyr Architects As the central piece of architecture for the Guanggu Bio-lake campus, this reception center houses exhibition space, conference rooms and administration offices. The building sits between a main plaza and central lake. In a comparatively small piece of land, the architecture seeks to have a strong symbolic character. In order to increase the overall impact of the architecture, the mass is treated as a sculpture in shape and texture. This site is surrounded by buildings with varying viewpoints of the main project. New Brunner fair stand in Milan, Italy by Ippolito Fleitz GroupSaturday, May 26th, 2012Article source: Ippolito Fleitz Group Brunner uses the occasion of the 2012 Milan Furniture Fair to present two new products: its ‘hoc’ stool and its ‘plot’ modular seating system. Ippolito Fleitz Group was commissioned once again to create a setting resembling an installation, an intense spatial experience in which to showcase Brunner’s new products. From a distance, the strictly black and white backdrop takes a back seat to the colourful seating objects, which draw visitors in to try them out. At closer look, the black and white backdrop transforms itself into a textual world, taking visitors on a poetic voyage of discovery, inspiring them to stop and tarry awhile. Huludao Beach Exhibit Center in Liaoning, China by META – ProjectThursday, May 17th, 2012Article source: META – Project META-Project has completed the Huludao Beach Exhibit Center, a project which re-established the relationship between the cultural activities and it’s natural environment. Previous a fishing village protected by the surrounding hills, a river running though the center, the Dragon Bay is the essence of Northeast-Chinese coastal idyll. Yet still scattered with fishing boats and nets, now it is facing the city’s upcoming development: situated on the west coast of Bohai Sea rim, with only 3 hours of traffic from Beijing, the site offers a natural resource that is so rare across the north of china due to its climate – “the beach”, which attracts tens of millions of people from Beijing and Northeast-China to spend their summer here. As the first building on the beach, META-Project’s Exhibit Center will vitalize the Dragon Bay into a new resort and residential hub for the Liaoning Province of China.  Huludao Beach Exhibit Center
La Vitrine culturelle in Montreal, Canada by Moment FactoryWednesday, May 16th, 2012Article source: Moment Factory La Vitrine Culturelle is located in the heart of Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles theatre district–an area known as a showcase for pioneering uses of multimedia technologies. After winning several awards for its interactive LED facade at La Vitrine’s former information centre at the Place-des-Arts, La Vitrine once again asked Moment Factory to push the boundaries of multimedia environments for their new and highly-visible location at the corner of Saint-Laurent and Sainte-Catherine. Moment Factory created an artistic installation that represents the effervescence of the city’s culture of design and innovation, while doubling as an informative and interactive medium.
