In May 2015 the visitor information center for the European Green Belt opened. Over an area of more than 1000 square meters in the premises in Windhaag near Freistadt, Upper Austria, the scientifically well founded exhibitions cover most impressively everything from nature and history to the future of the region. Concurrently, the Green Belt Center serves as information center, travel agency with offers for tourists but also as venue and sales shop with regional products. The forest house is about to become an integral part of the tourism in the region Mühlviertel and Danube‐ Moldau.
House QM answers the building regulations in a different and “twisted” way.
House QM is situated in a new allotment that exists out of square plots of the same size, with the same building regulations; houses must recoil 5m of every side of the terrain, have 2 levels and must have a flat or sloped roof.
The house located in the 30 000 populated town in 150 km from Moscow. Private houses area in such places is highly diversified. There are absent any rules or limitations, one street can be place for houses build from trash and 3-storey height brick castle from 90-s. Surroundings full of “architecture without architects”, everything is always in process: if you need new room you construct it, without any project and with material you have for the moment. Belongings are divided by different generations and woodcarving neighbour with their plastic luxury. How to work with this diversified and often revolting surroundings?
Located in the city of Jundiaí, the residence designed with the purpose of sale, had as a goal the optimization of the cost and the time of execution of the construction.
The unusual height of 3.80 meters from the ground floor brings comfort to the social areas. A large skylight over the wooden staircase complements the natural light from the ground floor and offers lighting to the rooms.
Amidst the urban residential potpourri of South Delhi, with apartments and plotted developments occupying and maximizing literally every square footage of space available, Botanica attempts to create a landmark development within the contemporary residential building typology by creating spacious, high-on-luxury, three-side open apartments in the heart of Delhi. Through its scale, massing and materiality, Botanica aims to create a distinguished architectural character, conceiving an identity for itself as a boutique bio-luxury development, whilst providing spacious and functionally efficient environs for its residents.
Mothers home is a safe haven. A stepping stone for mothers with difficulies. A chanse of respite for their children. And a sense of home for their small fragile families.
Architecture follows these statements and is trynig to give form to inteweaving dualities of this social programme.
Placed on top of historic Hollywood Hills, the ones which draw Los Angeles profile where part of Case Study Houses program was built. The project lays on the ground, adapting to its hard slope and conditions, carrying out a change of direction at house level in order to frame the horizon of the city till the ocean.
John’s view, who will live the home, was determinant for its design. A monolythic piece, hanging from topography and opened to the distant landscape was what he imagined for this place.
Flanked between the koi pond and the swimming pool, the double volume courtyard – a fulcrum to the house, was introduced to break the monotony of spaces in this linear house. Horizontal and vertical movements are endless and ample daylight floods the key living spaces. A 3-storey high feature steel staircase floats above the koi pond, with a vertical feature wall of black river pebbles as its backdrop. A slim bridge suspends over the courtyard and ties the front and rear wings of the house.
How to create a new house for twelve families that share the same site but different services? This project aims at redefining the concept of private domestic space within a collective structure. In a 400 square meter rectangular site, the building has three levels, plus one subterranean parking level with service areas and storage rooms. Each level has four apartments, with variations in each apartment, depending on different interior heights and views from the balconies in each room. The rooftop offers four terraces, each belonging to one of the duplex apartments in the last floor.
“House 669” is an expression of the customers dream of getting their own house on a low budget and within a set fabrication process. The context is typical of many mid-sized Swedish towns contemporary development. The plot is prepared for fast and cost-effective construction of a catalogue house. Building your own home here normally comes down to the choice of a style. “House 669” lands in this context, neighbouring the neofunctional look and across the street a modern mansion sitting on a plot of 600 m2. It is a house built in collaboration with a local catalogue house manufacturer, but sustains the pursuit of living in an environment that supports the families everyday life, including work, play, social life and rest. The volume is archetypical, like a quick drawing of a house. 1 1/2 levels and open to the ridge, it provides a variety of spaces. By stripping away the standard materials (3-strip parquet, plasterboard ceilings, laminate window sills etc.) often found in catalogue houses, “House 669” achieve a more tactile material palette. Three coloured “islands” divide the ground floor which becomes the scene for social life, while structurally supporting the private rooms upstairs.
