Kaohsiung American School Design Concept in Taiwan by MAYU architects+

Tuesday, September 8th, 2015

Article source: MAYU architects+

An international school strives to nurture its students to become world citizens through a community of teachers and classmates of various nationalities as well as diverse educational methods. The Kaohsiung American School (KAS), as such an entity, has thrived for more than twenty-five years by attracting talented teachers and students alike even though it has negotiated with limited physical presence because of relocations and use of older facilities. By leasing the former Victory Elementary Public School site from the Kaohsiung City government, KAS finally has a permanent home at the current site not far from the Lotus Pond, a famed tourist attraction. The new school built on this site is well thought out and curriculum based to better meet the needs of all students.

THE BLOEMENDAAL TOWN HALL in Netherlands by NEXT architects

Sunday, July 19th, 2015

Article source: NEXT architects

The new Bloemendaal Town Hall opened its doors on 25 June 2015. The realisation of the new town hall is the coping stone of a process set in motion with the ‘uniting’ of the municipalities of Bloemendaal and Bennebroek in January 2009. With these central premises the municipal organisation, which now encompasses the civic centres of Bloemendaal, Overveen, Aerdenhout, Vogelenzang and Bennebroek, has also found its physical expression. One address, one face, one identity.

The auditorium’s duality arises from the contradiction of its site. On the edge of town, the auditorium faces two realities: the beauty of the coastal landscape and the harsh and fragmented urban context.

Sunday, June 14th, 2015

Article source: Estudio Barozzi Veiga

The Philarmonic Hall, which is to accommodate a concert hall and a chamber music hall , is a very complex building that occupies the same space as the former music building. This is a synthetic project that shares identifying traits with its surrounding context. Mass, versatility and the shape of the roof-lines are dominant, connecting the hall with the rest of the city.
