Article source: ONG&ONG

Situated in Eastern Singapore amongst traditional shop houses and family homes, 80ADR-House is part of a tide of renewal that ebbs slowly into the island’s older neighbourhoods. An A&A project that carefully integrates classic and contemporary styles, the revamped residence subtly contrast its surroundings – with Architects drawing inspiration from the past while simultaneously adapting features for modern use.

ST Nursery in Japan by HIBINOSEKKEI + youji no shiro + KIDS DESIGN LABO

Article source: HIBINOSEKKEI + youji no shiro + KIDS DESIGN LABO

The birth rate in Japan is on a constant decline resulting decrease in the number of siblings proportionately. As a result, the different age children aren’t able to develop a strong connection which results in developing complex, restricting them to freely communicate with others. This site is located in an area where this tendency can be seen remarkably. Hence we started with 'connection' as the key concept.

Miles and Shirley Fiterman Hall in New York City, New York by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners

Monday, April 8th, 2019

Article source: Pei Cobb Freed & Partners

After the original Fiterman Hall was irreparably damaged on 9/11 by collapse of the neighboring World Trade Center, the construction of its replacement became an important neighborhood goal, symbolic of Lower Manhattan’s resurgence.

Out of the many design challenges faced, including the environmental remediation and deconstruction of the existing structure, the greatest challenge was to accommodate a vertical campus on a relatively small site. Housing 15 levels of program space, the new building is home to four major academic programs and contains a significant portion of BMCC’s general education teaching spaces.

Article source: Rüthnick Architekten

The extension of the town hall from the 1960s in the Müllerstraße, in opposite to the Leopoldplatz, was converted by Rüthnick Architekten and technically as well as energetically updated to the latest technological standards.

A special influence on the plans for the transformation of the listed ensemble was the preservation of the draft character of Fritz Bornemann.

Between 1964 and 1966, according to the plans of the architect Fritz Bornemann, a twelve-story high-rise and an upstream single-storey annex were built, which, at the time, served as the district council hall (BVV-Saal).

Újpest New Market-Hall and UP Event Space in Budapest, Hungary by Firka Építész Stúdió Kft.

Sunday, March 10th, 2019

Article source: Firka Építész Stúdió Kft.

The market place, besides the city hall and the church, has always been the most important part of the center of the 4th district. However, from the 1970s on, the introverted late-modern market buildings and their service area occupied the public space of St. Stephen Square. The purpose of the current transformation is to give this space back to pedestrians and events by the forthcoming demolition of obsolete buildings, while the market is renewed within up-to-date frames.

Nett Winery in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany by Architects Collective

Wednesday, March 6th, 2019

Article source: Architects Collective

Japan and Vienna meet in the Pfalz

The Nett Winery, located in the Pfalz wine region of Germany, can be described as a light, modern, generous and representative building. Comprised of two long-stretched halls as well as a covered passage, it looks like a geometric ray ready to unfold across the landscape. Inside the building, the wine ripens on a vast space of nearly 4,500 m². Claiming the highest quality of wine production, the challenge was to design a completely new building that ambitiously combines the entire production as well as a shop, tasting room, storage, office and living spaces – and which meets the family’s expectations, too. In Architects Collective Christian Nett found a partner from Vienna that could implement his vision of an efficient, ecological and ambitious plan to create a winery of the future.
