Getir Headquarter in İstanbul, Turkey by URBANJOBS

Monday, July 15th, 2019

Article source: URBANJOBS

“Turkey's one of the biggest startup” GETIR with 1,200 employees has an office area of 1,600 square meters on two floors in Etiler Doğuş Center.

In order to provide more innovative and flexible office space for the employees of GETIR HQ, employers held a competition with the specific brief and timing.

In this brief, approximately 350 square meters of the 1,600 square meters was allocated as “The Village Square”. This area was explained as the founders and employees are in the same place without any hierarchy in the startup spirit. The competition process ran for 1 month, videos and visualizations were also presented. Especially the progressive ideas behind “The Village Square” was set forth by URBANJOBS. After winning the competition, the design process was launched.

“The Village Square” was demanded as a multi- functional area to be used for meetings doing pilates, holding concerts where employees can easily chill and socialize.

There was a bit challenging thing about this brief: The founders and employees to exist in the same environment with transparency. While providing privacy for the founders, it should also be ensured that employees feel themselves comfortable.

SHUM YIP UpperHills LOFT in Shenzhen, China by URBANUS

Tuesday, July 9th, 2019

Article source: URBANUS

This base is a high-end commercial complex with 6 high-rise towers containing offices, hotels and business apartments. Adjacent to the CBD district, it is also located between two central parks in Shenzhen. URBANUS’ design task was to construct a 100,000 m2 loft of apartments and offices on top of a shopping center larger than 60,000 m2.

To release the enormous pressure from the vertical dimension of the high-rise tower, we take advantage of the large area of the LOFTs, creating two artificial mountain volumes, in response to the huge scale of the towers. At the same time, the design connects the project to the natural form of the surrounding Lianhua and Bijia Mountains. This design also encloses a quiet space, by connecting the 3-4 level high-density office LOFT through exquisite sidewalks, creating a small town with rich spatial variation. There are also some public spaces, such as the LOFT Theater and the Trading & Exhibition Center that gradually transform the “big” and “solid” periphery space to the “small” and “dynamic” inner region. The Loft Town has accommodated a shopping mall, business offices and apartments, creating a new model of settlement which integrates residents, offices, shopping malls and cultural spaces.

Friday, June 21st, 2019

Article source: Noll & Tam Architects

This 91,050-square-foot project transformed a tired ‘90s tilt-up building into a modern and inspiring workplace. The goal was to take an office packed with a warren of cubicles and transform it into a high-performance, contemporary office building which would set a precedent for future campus renovations and help attract and retain Silicon Valley talent. Photovoltaic panels now power 100% of the office spaces, while new roofing, insulation, and a new building skin have vastly improved the building’s energy performance.

Mindvalley Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by IDEAWORKSHOP

Tuesday, June 18th, 2019

Article source: IDEAWORKSHOP

“We spend 70% of our waking hours at work, and work today extracts from us. It makes us age, it makes us stressed. What if work could instead heal, rejuvenate and actually make you younger and healthier?”

This is Mindvalley’s take on a healthier, user-centric workspace. Inspired by the jungle gym playscape and Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, the new Mindvalley Creative Office in Kuala Lumpur features a multileveled workscape bathed in polychromatic light that shifts throughout the day. Designed collaboratively with IDEAWORKSHOP, the entire process began by rethinking the very concept and functions of an office and radically optimizing layouts, materials and spaces for human performance.
