Gateway – Deloitte HQ in Brussels, Belgium by JASPERS-EYERS ARCHITECTS

Tuesday, April 24th, 2018

Article source: JASPERS-EYERS ARCHITECTS

As one of the world leaders in financial and business services, Deloitte is also a trailblazer when it comes to innovative, contemporary working culture. It’s no wonder, then, that their new building at the Brussels Airport site in Zaventem would become a reflection of what the company stands for.  It’s an international melting pot, where work and leisure go hand in hand and where flexibility, communication and versatility are key words.

Jaspers-Eyers Architects, which has extensive experience in designing contemporary work environments, took up the challenge for developers Codic and Immobel. The challenge was to transform abstract concepts into tangible architecture that is firmly grounded in the present and future. Architecture with respect for the existing complex, which is partially renovated. The result is both sober and imposing, a modern giant with one eye on the landing strip and the other on Zaventem.

Gucci Headquarters in Milan, Italy by PIUARCH

Monday, April 23rd, 2018

Article source:  PIUARCH

The redevelopment project of the old Caproni factory focuses on enhancing the stylistic features of the 1920s’ architecture and aims to transform this old plant into a large complex for Gucci, holding offices, showrooms and spaces for fashion shows and operations connected with graphics, as well as a canteen and restaurant. Recovery and enhancement of the characteristic shed buildings was the first element of the redevelopment project: set out in a regular pattern across the site and featuring modular structural bays, the abandoned industrial warehouses with exposed-brick facades generate, thanks to their spatial layout, a seamless interaction between the inside and outside. Particular attention was paid to the Hangar recovery, a volume of “exceptional” size, once intended for the final assembly of Caproni aircraft, that is now used to house the fashion shows from 2017. Moreover, the Hangar is enhanced by a large open and covered square connected with the main pedestrian axis facing to via Mecenate. This covered square acts as the core of the pedestrian system that includes a tree-lined square, common gardens, patios and green walls. Inside the regular layout of solid structures and empty spaces, a new six-storey tower closely interacts with the old construction: characterized by a glass façade covered with a regular pattern of sunscreens, the new building breaks down the site’s symmetry and tends to draw together all the different functions.

Mercedes-Benz Thailand Headquarters in Bangkok by PBM – Progressive Building Management Co., Ltd.

Wednesday, April 11th, 2018

Article source: PBM – Progressive Building Management Co., Ltd.

The new headquarters office of Mercedes-Benz Thailand is designed by inspiration from one of their founders, Mr. Gottlieb Daimler. He sent a postcard to his wife (with a three-pointed star marking the location of his house) writing that this star would one day shine over his own factory to symbolize prosperity. We captured the concept of stars to create the movement and the connection in the new working space. Function rooms such as meeting rooms, coffee corners, utility rooms, were planned across the entire floors which increase chances for staff to meet each others and make them easier to collaborate throughout the day. The connection stair between its 2-storey offices was also designed as a grandstand for the town hall where a hundred of staff can gather around for the company’s events. Above this space, we placed the symbolic with imported shining crystal chandelier to enhance our concept of the star and bring fabulous lighting to the property. Along the corridor, we intentionally place lighting in different size and difference direction to mimic the star in the sky.

Complexo Dom Pedro in São Paulo, Brazil by FGMF Architects

Friday, March 30th, 2018

Article source: FGMF Architects

Some years ago we were invited to design the Dom Pedro Complex project: two entire clubs, with headquarters, entrances and sports and leisure outdoor areas. The architecture should propose a unique identity for both clubs, but at the same time design independently flows organization, spaces, dimensions, relation with views and surroundings. Almost like two projects in one.
