In Marseilles, A+Architecture has designed one of the highest wooden buildings in France for the CROUS: the Lucien Cornil hall of residence.
This eight-floor student residence is the fruit of a successful environmental and construction period. Its sensitive urban approach makes this 200-room structure a functional building, comfortable and opening out towards the city.
HEPIstanbul designed by Istanbul based architectural practice CM Mimarlik is a residential project that it’s spacial organisation could be described as rhizomatic with its horizontal and vertical relations. There are no centre or centres designated in this organisation A centreless movement is aimed with the attraction points are hidden.
Located on a plot of land in Ivry-sur-Seine and close to the river, this 104-unit project had to adapt to the physical constraints of its environment while enhancing the brief with added value. Composed of three apartment buildings, two of which are for private ownership and the third for social housing, the buildings stand in a verdant environment with a landscaped inner garden, visual openings onto the Seine and roof terraces enhanced by flower- and kitchen-gardens open to everyone.
Arranged in a staggered design, the three buildings are broken down into varying volumes, materials and tones so as to create variations of scale and embellish them with slimmer lines.
A dense, urban project that the agency has transformed with panache into a habitat favourable to encounters and conviviality in a bucolic setting.
Located less than 150 metres from the beach at the prestigious Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai, the flagship project sets a new standard for luxury in the Persian Gulf region. The design principles behind the building are guided by two main goals: waterfront views and spatial clarity.
The waterfront views are special because they will be visible from every room in every unit. Residents will look out over Dubai’s iconic landmarks, including Skydive Dubai, Palm Island, Blue Waters Island and Ain Dubai. This guiding principle gives added value to the land and maximizes revenue for the developer.
The Residence Irene Popard, to Clermont-Ferrand (France), counts 89 units including 29 in social accession and 60 social rental housings. The green corridor is the spine of the project which take its source between the buildings of the neighboring plot. The idea is that the various buildings meander, sneaks in a duality between distance and rapprochement with other buildings facing each other. Hence this zigzag movement.
ICF La Sablière owns the Fulton block, located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, on the banks of the Seine. The existing real estate complex known as “Fulton” was built in the 1950s by architect Daniel Michelin and is occupied by 133 dwellings. The site benefits from a very beautiful location, clear, in front of the seine, near the bridge of Bercy in the East and the museum of fashion and design at the West, a contemporary building realized by the architects Jakob + Macfarlane.
Sovereign consists of 23 town houses in Sylvania. The site has direct water frontage and panoramic views on the Georges River, Sothern Sydney. Half off the site has not been developed and remains bushland. This area contains dramatic native sandstone escarpments.
This project is part of Nuevo Sur in which we participate with a group of leading architects in the creation of a large mixed-use development in Monterrey in the north of Mexico. We had the great opportunity to also participate in the design of Gran Ciudad Nuevo Sur, one of the residential buildings of the complex.
Compared to the original building by Peter Behrens, who in the 1930s created an internationally regarded masterpiece of Modernism with Tabakfabrik Linz, the new development added in the early 1980s was not of the same architectural standard.
The 80s addition was demolished, releasing a site that the Linz authorities thought would be the perfect location for the main building of the Tabakfabrik complex and, based on its key geographical role in the fabric of the city, they decided it would be a historic chance to positively impact the development of the city.
The entrance to C57-4 building is through a lobby with restrained design highlighted with details in wood and forge welcoming the inhabitants and leading them towards the vertical circulations formed by lifts and service staircase. In the interior of each floor, all of the units structural level was reconditioned to generate wide corridors dominated by an inside patio —that works also as a meeting point and relaxing area— with a red brick carpet down the shade of a tree.
