Friday, January 10th, 2014

Article source: TYIN tegnestue Architects

The Old Market Library is built in a 100-year-old market building. The section for the library measures 3×9 metres internally, with a back yard facing a small canal. The roof and the walls were in very poor condition, and consequently any new element had to be self-supporting.

Friday, October 25th, 2013

Article source: Tuncer Cakmakli Architects

Bursa was the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and is today the center of manufacturing in Turkey, leading the field in the automotive and textile industries.

But the city is also a natural wonder: it sits at the base of the 2.000 meter-high Uludağ mountain, which is the location of the country’s first ski resort, and the city is also host to natural springs whose waters have long been thought to be therapeutic. Moreover, the fertile grounds around Bursa produce some of the country’s best produce.

Spice Market London

Imagine a wall of spices containing all the colours, flavours and fragrances of Asian cuisine. Imagine a spice cabinet, 2 floors high, 24 metres long and revealing every ingredient the chef will need to create the distinguished Spice Market dishes. This spice cabinet is here, as the centre-piece of the restaurant and starting point for a great dinnertime. When you look up from the street and see through the transparent restaurant façade, you can even see the cabinet from there.

Novo Mesto Central Market in Slovenia by ENOTA

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013

Article source: ENOTA

The backbone of the new central market is formed by the covered Market Street, which lies on the level of main city square and connects the two spots closest to it on both access streets. The programme of the new central market is thus divided into two floors, one on the level of main square and the other on the level of Florjanov Square on the other side of the city block. The lower floor is partially dug in and features indoor trading and service surfaces, while the upper floor
is intended for the covered market and opens to all sides.
