Kowloon East Regional Headquarters ‘Takes Off’ in Kowloon, Hong Kong by Farrells

Wednesday, March 17th, 2021

Article source: Farrells

Farrells won the commission of this 47,000 sq.m. civic building project, a Hong Kong Government Design and Build contract, in 2013 as lead architectural consultant. The new Headquarters spans 16 floors and includes offices, vehicular area and ancillary facilities. Farrells handled meticulously the design of this new integrated complex which combines functionality, sustainability and aesthetics. We recognise the aspirations and the design drivers behind the masterplan and our proposal delivers and supports the high quality vision for the new Kai Tak area through the development of an architectural language and landscaped setting that adds to the overall greening of the area. The new Headquarters is a simple urban response to a complex brief. A play of composition and façade expression helps breaking down the mass while unifying various internal programmes. Its architectonic create various dialogues with the surrounding context, public realm and environmental responses. The new Kowloon East Regional Headquarters building takes off as an important part of the urban transformation of Kowloon East and as the gateway of the new Kai Tak city – setting a precedent and visionary picture of a new urban skyline.

Locusview in Herzliya, Israel by Studio Samuelov

Thursday, March 11th, 2021

Article source: Studio Samuelov

Our interior design for Locusview, a digital platform of construction data for energy infrastructure, was inspired by the company’s merging of low-tech and high-tech. Our mission was two-fold, to create a beautiful design in line with the company’s values, while focusing on giving users a top-notch experience.

We designed a cafeteria lounge full of color, sober designs and functional spaces; a spacious and efficient kitchen space and a relaxing and imposing terrace, which serves as a place to relax and recharge in the middle of the day.

LA Garage at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon by SRG Partnership

Thursday, February 25th, 2021

Article source: SRG Partnership

As the place in which the transition from driver to pedestrian occurs, the 409,000-square-foot LA Garage is a nexus of activity for people arriving on campus. The design breaks up the typical parking structure mass, providing opportunities for daylight and creating a “wow” space in between: a public covered courtyard carved into the center of the building that encourages chance encounters, casual gatherings, and collaboration. Surrounded by three sides of backlit glass showing iconic Olympic athletes, the courtyard faces the campus daycare center. Employees and their children can experience playful elements incorporated into the design such as a slide into the courtyard, rubberized pyramids, a balance beam and a running track. Furthermore, bikes are provided in the courtyard to easily connect people in the space to the campus.
