The Prince Arthur’s Landing project has transformed the City of Thunder Bay’s waterfront into a mixed-use village and highly animated waterfront park that reconnects the downtown to the shores of Lake Superior. The waterfront officially opened to the public on December 16th, 2011, and has since seen record attendance and continues to be met with overwhelming industry acclaim and community support.
The aim of the contest was to select the best urban and architectural design for Plac Wolności (Freedom Square) and Rynek Zduński (Stove-Fitters’ Market Square) in Kutno. Such features as spatial development, functionality and practicability were taken into consideration.
“Fast track” is a integral part of park infrastructure, it is a road and an installation at the same time. It challenges the concept of infrastructure that only focuses on technical and functional aspects and tends to be ignorant to its surroundings. “Fast track” is an attempt to create intelligent infrastructure that is emotional and corresponds to the local context. It gives the user a different experience of moving and percieving the environment.
Working in a historical context, of the continental Europe where the architecture of the past is still very much present, architects are often faced with the question of whether they should restore the physical or rehabilitate the conceptual. This question came to the fore in response to the combined decision of the city of Antwerp and the heritage committee to rehabilitate the historical Boekenberg Park in Deurne. Within the framework of a public-private partnership, the office OMGEVING was appointed to give shape to the new ambitions of the city.
Built over the existing Woodall Rodgers Freeway, this 5.2-acre park serves as an important pedestrian connection between the Central Business District, Uptown and the burgeoning Arts District in downtown Dallas, Texas. Bisected by the existing Olive Street bridge, the park is organized by a sweeping pedestrian promenade that features a continuous canopy of specimen Pond Cypress.

KABC’s winning scheme for an innovative office and research campus in Hangzhou, China, was selected over six international firms invited to submit designs. Our vision for the facility in the Hai Chuang Yuan Community is based upon creating a continuous multi-layered pedestrian experience. It is intended to strengthen and benefit the community, which will inhabit and move through the site. Everyday activities including parking underground, moving throughout the buildings, and working in the offices are connected to the natural environment. Workers will be engaged by exterior and interior green gardens that are interwoven into their office environment.

As part of a limited competition for the City of Sydney, HASSELL undertook the challenge to rejuvenate Perry Park in the inner-Sydney suburb of Alexandria.
Taking the themes of sport and ecology, the HASSELL response provides for a range of passive and active recreational activities within a park and wetland setting. Our goal was to create a destination for both individuals and groups; a place where sport and ecology mix seamlessly, support and complement one another in a balanced environment.

Uppsala is an expanding university town located north of Stockholm. Studenternas IP, a sports field with long traditions, is situated by the river Fyrisån in the very centre of the town within the park Stadsträdgården. The project is part of a major re-development of the south river area and includes housing, parks, sport facilities and infrastructure.
The location of the site is highly sensitive from a historical point of view, the scale and integrity of the surrounding park and river area must be preserved, also when introducing a large scale development. To the west the main Hospital of the region located, a large scale complex.
In a little town in the north of Italy, close to the city of Trento, there is a private park close to a small lake. A worthless and unused tennis court was the reason for an international art competition called 260MQ organized by studio supergulp (firenze – italy)with the aim to achieve a new space quality.
