Healdsburg I in California by Feldman Architecture

Tuesday, February 7th, 2017

Article source: Feldman Architecture

Comprised of perpendicular bars atop a hill overlooking the village of Healdsburg, this home offers both ample social space ideal for entertaining and the privacy of a rural retreat.

The taller section runs along the ridge of the hill and houses the home’s great room under lofty ceilings and a simple shed overhanging roof, filled with light and views let in through tall glass walls.  Four oversized glass panels open dramatically on each side, transforming the space into an outdoor pavilion whose flush concrete floors extend into a poolside patio to the north and into a terrace featuring a fire pit to the south to offer comfortable outdoor areas for both hot and cool weather.   With these doors drawn up, the site offers one sweeping, continuous view from the pool, through the great room, and down into the distant village below.

Article source: Arch. Adalberto Dias

The plot in Gafanha da Boavista is narrow and long.

The program was interesting and not vulgar for a single family dwelling.

The clients, young couple formed in the Nordic countries, had a different concept of life and another notion of family structure and their relationships.

Three spaces and a corridor, in three volumes, was the concept of the project.

V13K05 – private house in Leiden, Netherlands by pasel.kuenzel architects

Thursday, April 14th, 2016

Article source: pasel.kuenzel architects

Home to a patchwork family and space for a living and working environment, this house serves several ambitions.

With just one façade facing the narrow alley, zenith daylight is directed through a central light well reaching all spaces of the residence. The spacious atrium is the core element of the building, providing a space of specific neutrality and merging the living areas on the ground floor with the home office of the client photographer on the top floor. From the outside the house hides its spacious qualities, from the inside it unfolds a world of visual connections and provides a framework for social diversity.
