The brand specializing in water dispenser production and sales was given a new younger and more fashionable image under the management of the second generation ownership. Waterfrom Design transforms the perspective of space in the 30-year factory as if it were water. Deconstructing the filtration cycle is a complex process, and layers are used to separate spaces based on the concept of “water filtration” in the water making process. Light materials such as barcode glass and mesh are used for partitioning, and vertical and horizontal routes pass through and overlap like the water treatment process. Table lamps and railings are decorated with bright and saturated colors. The spatial direction and linear rhythm are guided through the layout of work tables, pipelines, and steel beams. The stainless steel block shaped structure at the entrance is polished by hand and glistens like water ripples. The reception counter and outdoor signboard wall are made from cement and have layers of water wave patterns. Along with the wall full of the filtering material activated carbon, as if they begin to tell the story of this space.
The AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Portland puts culture at the center of the guest experience—merging the European-inspired brand with local art and craft. Located at the busy corner of SW 3rd and SW Taylor Avenue, and adjacent to the Yamhill historic neighborhood, the hotel is one of the first AC-branded hotels in the United States. With 204 guest rooms, the new thirteen-story, 120,000-square-foot hotel serves as a dynamic addition to the city.
The hotel engages the city through its vibrant street-level design: lobby, restaurant, and bar are wrapped with windows as a visual marriage of inside and outside spaces to make guests feel a part of the city and vice versa. The design pays homage to its historic context while playing with its sense of materiality, eschewing the ubiquitous red brick of the district, instead using an off-white brick. Silver-toned metal spandrel panels are set against the strong vertical, brick frame, resulting in a building that emphasizes its stature with a flash of elan. The building’s prominent corner, where the two busy street facades meet, is clipped and appears to have an inset vertical ribbon of windows that run the full height of the building, providing each floor with a perch from which to view the activity of the city.
The biggest mall administrator in Latin America, the BRMALLS Group is based in the Rio de Janeiro neighborhood Leblon, in which 124 employees work at, filling the 1019 m² floor. The project was based on values such as exchanging and learning and in the light atmosphere that celebrates the brazilian bossa nova.
The reception was inspired by the concierge of one of the group’s malls and its design incorporates the new company values. Shades of green and blue are a reference to the colors of the Leblon neighborhood beach and also, uses the brand’s blue tone. The metal structures form a large panel that organizes the guest and visitors flow in a soft and easy way.
This site used to be a dressed timber factory with dusty atmosphere where sawdust, wood pulp, waste products of woodworking and huge machines were placed in the loud environment. It has now become a warehouse for storing goods where only silence, darkness and smell of abandonment remained. The factory was moved to the new site not far away as the business grew. The old site turns to be a medium-size office with less than five staff members.

The project is an upscale restaurant serving private home-style cuisine, which is located in Shantou, China, designed by JINGU PHOENIX SPACE PLANNING ORGANIZATION. In traditional Chinese culture, pine, bamboo and plum blossom are known as “Sui Han San You (Three Friends of Winter)”, because they do not wither as the cold days deepen into the winter season unlike many other plants. Coincidentally, the restaurant was set up by three friends. So the client chose “Sui Han San You” as the name of the restaurant, giving it an artistic charm. The interior design was approached based on such background.
It's a two-storey space, with a high ceiling on the first floor, which is a great advantage. JINGU PHOENIX adopted Tang-style wooden structures, beams and columns to construct the architectural framework, and utilized austere materials to create a magnificent elegance within the space.
The project was built from containers, situated at Orenda · Chongming Island, Shanghai, China. Its isolated location on an open grassland, as well as the narrow interior spaces of the containers, made the project challenging. In order to give the ten ordinary staggered containers unique aesthetics, the designers boldly extended the inner space of the containers outwards, through creating a void box connected to each closed container. The added boxes, framed by grilles, increased usable area, met the functional demands, and formed a contrast of solidness and void with the containers. Natural light can be filtered through grilles, generating a poetic view of light and shadows. The containers, and the new boxes generated from them, together produce staggered and overlapping architectural form, making the building look modern and futuristic.
