Nº1 Private residence in Amsterdam, The Netherlands 2023
Nº1 is an exclusive penthouse located in one of the most iconic streets in the city of Amsterdam, Vondelstraat, right next to the Vondelpark.
The uniqueness of how this house has been conceived is the way space and volumen has been understood on a totally new level, offering an enormous variety of spaces, sequences and visual relations.
The 1800m² countryhouse is located at Fazenda Boa Vista, in the municipality of Porto Feliz, São Paulo, and was built from scratch by the architect Felipe Caboclo. The Georgia Albuquerque Arquitetura office was contacted at the time when the client had the entire structure of the house built, the roof still needed to be finished and all the interior architecture and decoration of the house needed to be completed.
Located in a residential condominium in the interior of São Paulo, in the city of Cabreúva, Casa MP has 350 m² of built area, with a construction system in soil-cement/ecological brick with some elements in exposed concrete and steel. It is an ecologically correct and intelligent construction, taking the best of the characteristics that this type of material can offer.
The house is projected as a device to observe and contemplate the valley from the eastern mountain. A volume that clings to it, penetrates and flies at the same time.
Two heavy floor slabs frame the horizon of the mountainous landscape. They organize and contain on the periphery the main spaces of the house and turn its gaze to the mountains. Courtyards of different proportions perforate them to generate accesses, lighting and ventilation for secondary spaces.
The house is an extensive balcony to always be related to the valley, the mountains, the sunsets, the night, the distant city, the changing landscape.
DIFC Living and Innovation Two is a vital component of phase three of the region’s largest innovation community – DIFC Innovation Hub – with the residences expected to be highly sought-after. Hong Kong-based LWK + PARTNERS’ Dubai studio was successful in winning the international design competition and took on the challenge of creating a mixed-use, live-work-play destination with independent yet seamlessly connected residential and commercial spaces. The team devised creative and innovative solutions to facilitate multiple access points that prioritise security without hindering the connectivity and flow of the existing DIFC masterplan.
With that one word from the client, the story for the construction to be built here was decided, but in order to realize this, it is necessary to have a “rational way of building on land”.
This is a private residence built on a slope 4 m down from the road toward the pond.
In the case of such sloping land, it can be said that the general solution is to create a semi-underground RC frame that withstands soil pressure from above and takes into account the fit on the waterproof.
Casa Mateo is located in one of the highest points of the Punta Garrobo development in Zihuatanejo. The east and west views towards the Pacific Ocean and the cliffs within the jungle landscape are maximized to generate an integration of the house with its environment.
The challenge of the commission was to exalt the user’s connection with the natural context in their daily life. In this way, tours, a patio of water and terraces, add to the idea of creating atmospheres of relaxation, leisure and enjoyment.
How do you create one open space out of a large multi-room apartment so that there doesn’t have to be a door between rooms because the client wanted as few as possible, but you still felt like the rooms were separated? We tried to clean the whole space, to use the existing structural and technical parameters of the apartment. The reinforced concrete ceiling structure with ribs was also exposed. This gave the apartment a rawer character.
The “From The Garden House” design was an unusual experience for us. The owner had already had a design of the garden, which was well under way. All that was missing was a house. At the time, it seemed like a ridiculous reversal.
This house confronts one of the most important arteries in the city – the National Road EN109.
Since it is designed for a residential use, the architectural piece is materialized in a uniform body which, through its shape and arrangement, protects itself from the busy road.
