Nanshan Technology Finance City in Shenzhen, China by Foster + Partners

Monday, July 1st, 2019

Article source: Foster + Partners

The completion ceremony of the Nanshan Technology Finance City in Shenzhen was held recently. The masterplan and the entire complex of buildings was designed by Foster + Partners, establishing a new destination for the city and a new benchmark for sustainable architecture in China. The design creates an integrated mixed-use community – unified by a series of ‘ribbons’ that define the routes, landscape and buildings – bringing together offices, a hotel and a dynamic public realm, animated by shops, restaurants and a range of new civic spaces.

Batard Bomonti in Turkey by URBANJOBS

Wednesday, June 26th, 2019

Article source: URBANJOBS

The place where Batard Bomonti is located was a space previously designed by URBANJOBS; while re-designing the same place, the new employer requested an old-looking concept, which does not feel like a newly-built atmosphere and indeed looks like as if it has been there for long years. The design process has been launched considering the necessity of building an up-to-date atmosphere also bearing the French influences.

Individuals residing in that district were selected as a customer profile; the place was aimed to serve as a local pub where people can easily come, have fun and spend quality time.

It opened in Milan, the third restaurant of the brothers Matteo and Salvatore Aloe, creators of the clubs from Bologna dedicated to the artisan pizza, that brings up to 10 the number of pizzerias opened in Italy, which can be added to the two in London.

After two restaurants in Isola and Navigli, Berberè expands also in Milano Centrale, in a dynamic block, active heart of the Milan business, in order to represent a further growth of the brand of artisan pizza, supported by the increasing recognition of the food critic, as for example the reconfirmation of the Tre Spicchi in the section “Pizza a degustazione” of the guide Le pizzerie d’Italia 2019 by Gambero Rosso.

The founder wants to have an exclusive restaurant has class and make the guests are able to enjoy the delicacy and great at-mosphere. After knowing Usual Studio's projects and concepts, the founder consigned us to give this res-taurant a whole new look.

To start the concept-design, we used the most important part of the burger, the patties and topping, as the main idea of Adangs logo. Simplest way to tell everyone that we focused on the most critical part, just like Adangs does.

Hotel Theodore and Rider Restaurant in Washington by CTA | Cushing Terrell

Monday, June 24th, 2019

Article source: CTA | Cushing Terrell

The Roosevelt Hotel, now rebranded as Hotel Theodore, is an historic 20-story building iconic to the downtown Seattle cityscape. Cushing Terrell teamed with interior design consultants Susan Marinello Interiors and David Hill Design to renovate the hotel lobby, first-floor coffee shop, meeting rooms, two-story interior atrium, and the exterior façade. The project also included the addition of an upscale restaurant and bar called Rider, which nods to local industry with an open fish counter and features an open-air grill for an elevated, multi-sensory dining experience. Faux skylights mimic natural light levels, foregrounding the building’s natural environment to its visitors, while an exterior walk-up to the coffee shop invites urban pedestrians inside. The design is inspired by Seattle’s long tradition of “makers, builders, and doers,” incorporating materials that reflect a refined, handmade aesthetic to complement the historic and distinctive Art Deco styling of the existing hotel.

Refurbishment of Bergen’s KODE 1 Decorative Art Museum in Norway by 3RW Arkitekter

Sunday, June 23rd, 2019

Article source: 3RW Arkitekter

KODE 1 Museum of Decorative Art—part of KODE Museums, one of Norway’s largest art institutions—is a rehabilitation project by 3RW arkitekter of all the spaces in the centenary building receiving the public, through the insertion of a display wall for the first time showcasing the museum’s archive and creating a new dialectic between the thick stone walls of the old institution, the museum workspaces and the public. At a time when the cultural and artistic sectors of Bergen are thriving, KODE 1 is the latest addition to the city’s cultural revival.

New modular furniture was created to cater for the various spaces and programmes, inspired by ancient Nordic museum displays with slender steel units and flexible arrangements. A white steel mesh ceiling and custom-made carpets and curtains complete a list of key interior elements that were added to the museum to give it a new civic presence in the city.

Doko Bar Shenzhen in China by Waterfrom Design

Food Exhibition And Show

From Real to Virtual, it all an Eating Show.

Pop artist Andy Warhol once said, “In the future, everyone has a chance at 15 minutes of fame”. In this age of Internet celebrities, people eat not just to satisfy their appetite, but they also use the food and the environment to show off themselves. Where Doko Bar located in Nanshan District of Shenzhen, is a representative Internet celebrity dessert shop. Waterfrom design, originated from the 15-minute theory, considers the eating process a show. From the moment our guests step inside our store, take a seat, and from the moment we prepare our dessert to deliver our dishes and our guests taste our food, every step of the way is like tight-coupling chapters of a play. Everyone in the store becomes a member of the platform. The space is a laboratory in which people taste their food.

Caldeireiros Houses in Porto, Portugal by clínica de arquitectura

Thursday, June 13th, 2019

Article source: clínica de arquitectura

The project was initiated by a commission to refurbish a traditional 17th century residential building in Porto city centre. It was a three-storey building with a large and complex courtyard in different levels (due to the steep topography of the city), which was completely covered by poorly built and insalubrious shacks. During the design process, the adjoining building (from a different owner) was added to the project, and later, another small building already existing in the courtyard was also included. In total, the project comprises 6 small apartments (2 studios, 2 one bedroom flats and 2 one bedroom duplexes), a shop and a (pre-existing) restaurant.
