The international restaurant Peyote opens the doors of its new culinary space in the Dubai International Financial Center (Dubai DIFC), an interior design project created by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos that bases its principal concept on introducing contemporary Mexican culture to this prominent global location in an authentic manner.
Peyote Dubai occupies two floors with a total area of 615 sqm. The principal restaurant space is distributed across the ground floor, while the service areas are found in the basement. We have designed a contemporary and vibrant project for the Peyote brand, covering 328 sqm of interior space together with the façade design.
The menu offers meat dishes cooked using a dynamic flame paired with select wines with character. Deliverables included a space that would embody and convey this appetizing experience.
We sought to fill the entire space with the energy resonating from the intensity of the flame and diverse colors of the wine.
The ceiling plane reveals a multilayered body of flame energy by combining red latticework conveying the intensity of the steeply spiraling flame as well as red plates coated with a special finish representing the strong flickering of the flame.
The AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Portland puts culture at the center of the guest experience—merging the European-inspired brand with local art and craft. Located at the busy corner of SW 3rd and SW Taylor Avenue, and adjacent to the Yamhill historic neighborhood, the hotel is one of the first AC-branded hotels in the United States. With 204 guest rooms, the new thirteen-story, 120,000-square-foot hotel serves as a dynamic addition to the city.
The hotel engages the city through its vibrant street-level design: lobby, restaurant, and bar are wrapped with windows as a visual marriage of inside and outside spaces to make guests feel a part of the city and vice versa. The design pays homage to its historic context while playing with its sense of materiality, eschewing the ubiquitous red brick of the district, instead using an off-white brick. Silver-toned metal spandrel panels are set against the strong vertical, brick frame, resulting in a building that emphasizes its stature with a flash of elan. The building’s prominent corner, where the two busy street facades meet, is clipped and appears to have an inset vertical ribbon of windows that run the full height of the building, providing each floor with a perch from which to view the activity of the city.
ASICS, the world-renowned sports and lifestyle brand, has officially moved into their new EMEA headquarters 10 km southeast of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Powerhouse Company, in collaboration with RED Company, won the competition to design the 11.600 m² state-of-the-art headquarters. The team’s vision for the flagship headquarters as a showcase for the ASICS brand and healthy and sustainable workplace will accommodate the company’s future growth and evolving business needs in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The resulting building is more than a workplace: it is a destination for local and international employees, product buyers and visitors to celebrate the ASICS legacy and shape its future.
concrete proudly presents the opening of its latest hotel project, Andaz Munich in Schwabing. Like a kaleidoscope, the Andaz hotel reflects the culture and tradition of the neighbourhood, creating a stimulating and inspiring atmosphere where guests and locals can feel at home.
Weaving state-of-the-art technology and old traditions into the interior, reflecting what makes Munich unique, forming a sense of tension that can be found throughout the hotel design. The ceiling structure illustrates this contrast via a literally interwoven network of rough wood and high-gloss anodised metal. The connecting axis between the different areas which brings all functions together in a single hybrid space ('we share') is a lively place to meet and mingle.
The many facets of Bavarian culture run like a leitmotif through the design. This is reflected from the largest scale to the smallest details; for example, the diamond shape (the Bavarian flag) is placed over the whole layout like a matrix, while details like deer horn buttons on the cushions remind of Bavarian fashion. Many icons associated with the city of Munich have been reinterpreted or abstracted as small highlights drizzled throughout the hotel, while traditional materials have been given a modern interpretation via a contemporary design language, including the “golden pretzel”.
Inspired by science and built by mathematics, this design construct creates a natural space for Budapest’s newest fine-dining spot
Hello Wood uses parametric design elements to bring life to Textúra restaurant
Fine dining doesn`t typically conjure up the words “intimate” and “informal”, and yet this was always the goal with Textúra. This new restaurant in the heart of downtown Budapest is a passion project for its owners, and everything from the dishes that are served to the atmosphere of the space that guests will sit in was designed with this core sensation of tranquillity at its core. Architectural and design studio Hello Wood helped to create an organic yet mathematical structure that sits at the heart of the space, working in coordination with the restaurant’s designer to meet the brief of creating a sophisticated yet easier side to fine dining.

The vintage metal look and concrete finish allows the noodle shop to blend harmoniously with its surrounding neighborhood.
The tower is part of the ambitious new master plan for the city, which converges around ten towers. The main program of the tower consists of office and housing program. Shopping and restaurant facilities are located in the base and at the top of the building.
Our first investigation was to resolve the dilemma of elegance – a clear ambition stated in the master plan – and square meters. We propose a volume based on a super ellipse: starting as an ellipse and ending as a rectangle. The subtle transition between these two basic shapes makes a tower which fully captures the Mediterranean light of Tirana, and creates ever changing shadows.
