Shunfenglou Seafood Restaurant in Zhejiang, China by TOPOS DESIGN CLANS

Article source: TOPOS DESIGN CLANS

TOPOS DESIGN CLANS announced the latest project, a seafood restaurant in Yongqiang, Wenzhou, on the coast of East China Sea, with a theme inspired by the ocean beside the city. Shunfenglou Restaurant is a well-known old fashioned local seafood restaurant. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its founding, the owners of the restaurant have announced a bold innovation. They entrusted TOPOS DESIGN CLANS to reinvent the restaurant as a place with a fully renewed sensory dining experience. Drawing on the symphony “La Mer” composed by the French musician Claude Debussy, who is the impressionist music master in the early 20th century, the designers created a series of synesthetic experiences about the sea with the deconstructed space, and presented an impressionist symphony of blue sea for the new restaurant.

Camptong Island and Museum in Cheongpyeong, South Korea by ArchiWorkshop

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019

Article source: ArchiWorkshop

When I visited the triangular site in Cheongpyeong Lake, I felt as if I was floating on the lake. It was like standing on a prow. The whole site was composed of gneiss, giving it an image of hard and solid earth. Inspired by the land, we started the master plan for a unique leisure experience. The site is about 2,500 pyeong (approx 8,264.5m2), largely divided into exterior space, art gallery, restaurant, welcome center, and glamping area. Access circulation is divided into public areas, open to everyone; the art gallery, which is semi-public; and glamping zones, used as private accommodation for guests. Boulders, which consist of rocks that settled down there, were reinterpreted as a platform that overlooks the lake, i.e. an open square. The spaces required were realized as places embedded in the rock. It is designed so that the architecture is not exposed, but made in the earth, where the roof of the space is the platform, or the square. Stairs, floors and ramps were made using rocks from the site, so that actions such as walking barefoot and lying on the ground would take place in the outdoor space.

25Hours Hotel “The Circle” in Cologne, Germany by Studio Aisslinger

“Back to the Future“

The 25hours Hotel The Circle in Cologne

The story telling takes the architecture and the time, in which this spectacular rotunda, the administrative center of the Gerling insurance group was built, as starting point, transforming the monument into a visionary rotational body, resembling a station floating in outer space.

In 1958, during the time of the “Wirtschaftswunder“, positive utopias and the belief in technological progress were ubiquitous. Life on the moon, on mars or space platforms seemed to be close and the goal of human evolution appeared to lie in a fully engineered future.

Beer Garden Kfar-Saba in Israel by ORKO Architecture & Design

Sunday, April 21st, 2019

Article source: ORKO Architecture & Design

The bar is located in the heart of “G”shopping complex in Kfar Sava city, about 360 square meters that the customers requested to be adapted to the group's branding and design principles. The guiding principle behind the project was to create a feeling in which the interior would feel like the exterior, so two large olive trees were placed in the space with a common sitting around them. The main floor was paved with natural basalt stone of various sizes, which continues the appearance of the sidewalk from the outside to the interior. In the rear of the space, a wooden structure was erected in the appearance of a greenhouse to conceal the operational area of the site.

Elizabeth Bay Marina in Australia by lahznimmo architects

Wednesday, April 17th, 2019

Article source: lahznimmo architects

lahznimmo architects were engaged by RMS in 2016 to provide lead consultancy services for the redevelopment of the Elizabeth Bay Marina. The existing facility was is in a deteriorated condition and in need of replacement. In order to meet continued operational requirements, the new facility was to be designed and constructed on a tight project time line.

Set at the edge of Beare Park, the existing building footprint and height set up the immediate expectation for the scale for the new development, particularly from the neighbouring residential community. Any increase in the building form, in particular width and height, would affect views from Beare Park and the residential developments to the south. The modest approach to form is then in keeping with the scale and setting of Beare Park, with the residential buildings the dominant backdrop; overlooking the park and marina, to the harbour beyond.

Fattoush Bar & Gallery in Tel Aviv, Israel by K.O.T architects

Friday, April 12th, 2019

Article source: K.O.T architects

In recent years the city of Haifa is undergoing a process of accelerated urban renewal. Opposite forces operate in an area that has been neglected and desolate for years, and seeking to instill in it seemingly contradictory values: Western influences vis-à-vis Oriental ones, local vis-à-vis foreign, Jewish vis-à-vis Arab, residential vis-à-vis commercial, innovation vis-à-vis traditionalism, and daily life vis-à-vis nightlife.

In the heart of this developing region, the Fattoush Bar & Gallery – a huge 650 square meter space dedicated entirely to culinary arts, arts and crafts – has recently been opened and is wisely using recycled design, furniture and décor that have been carefully collected from flea markets around the world. Thus the project puts itself at the forefront of the re-use trend, which now sets the tone for international architecture.

“When we started working on the project, we quickly realized that the real story here is the struggle itself, and the constant tension between the new and old elements that seek to determine the face of Haifa,” says Kfir Galatia-Azulay, an artist, architect and multidisciplinary designer and owner of the Tel Aviv office K.O.T Architects, who led the process along with entrepreneur Wadie Shahbarat.
