The circular pavilion The Green House officially opened its doors on Monday 9 April. The Green House offers space for a restaurant with its own urban farm, and a meeting center. The project is an initiative of Strukton, Ballast Nedam and Albron. The circular architectural design is made by cepezed.
In 2014 cepezed was commissioned to make a modern government office from the former Knoopkazerne on the Croeselaan in Utrecht. The Central Government Real Estate Company also requested a solution for the space between the Knoopkazerne and the adjacent head office of Rabobank. Because a definitive destination for this location will be decided in fifteen years, a temporary interpretation was sought that could make the area that would otherwise remain vacant, more lively. cepezed developed a plan in which both the function and the architecture are based on circularity.
Odessa is a modern Ukrainian city with rich history and a mix of cultural traditions that go back centuries. Conservation efforts are gaining momentum, and one of our latest projects – 4CITY – has become a prominent part of this movement.
We were presented with a 1890s Renaissance Revival building that had seen its best days at the turn of the last century. It was a popular medical spa facility, with lots of inner tiled spaces and minimal provisions for foot traffic.
Don’t listen if a rain does the leaves sway; You’d better walk lightly singing a lay. Sandals outdo saddles, cane as aid, fearful I am not. A cape against mist and rain, come what may.
“Stretching fifty li at length, a half of Chuanyuan is covered with bamboos.” As a county of Huzhou in Zhejiang province, Anji is known as “the Largest Bamboo Town in China”. Choosing Anji as its site has well interpreted Banyan Tree Hotel’s “Close to Nature & Blend in Culture” branding philosophy. As one of the soft furnishing teams, YANG draws inspirations from local bamboo and tea culture, creating peculiar temperament and spirit for Banyan Tree Anji that sets in line with the brand’s characteristics and the reticent space.
dosa by DOSA brings the energetic warmth and spirit of Mumbai street food to the easy-going Uptown Oakland neighborhood. We took full advantage of high ceilings and abundant natural light in the century-old, brick-and-timber building at 2301 Broadway. Hand-crafted interpretations of traditional Indian elements play with new and old, developing an enduring design idiom for future dosa by DOSA locations.
The use of green in space is something we always use, to give life to the environment, it is necessary. Based on this principle, we design the restaurant integrating the interior with the exterior, through large openings, facilitating the use of lighting and natural ventilation. The formal purity with straight lines and few volumes, planes that lengthen and at the same time unite the environments, natural materials like wood, concrete and stone are elements that characterize the project.
This restaurant was born from the idea of two friends with large experience in the world of restoration who wanted to offer to their clients a different concept of food, based on platos y platillos, the conventional spanish tiny dishes. Their plates pretend to innovate with new and surprising recipes, and each one of them contains small portions, which allows you to try many of them. The cook, Grabiel Ciscar, prepares seasonal meals with a wide range of options.
In the Venetian lagoon, an artificial island has been transformed into a luxury resort and park. The island, built in 1860 is a state-protected landscape and has about twenty early-twentieth-century buildings, including a hospital and service buildings. The project’s complexity was managed through a shift in scale from the macro (masterplan) to the micro (details) by Matteo Thun + Partners.
Pots Pans & Boards is a restaurant concept from British Michelin Star chef Tom Aikens, in which sharing dishes is the key element in creating a relaxed, family atmosphere. Being served in an assortment pots, pans and boards, as well as more traditional plates, it will allow guests to share the dishes openly with each other. The concept is developed around a casual and comfortable dinner at home, which is reflected in the menu, and had a strong influence on the interior design of the restaurant.
Studio Modijefsky has recently completed a new bar in Amsterdam East called Bar Basquiat. Named after one of the most celebrated American artists of the 20th century, poet and painter, Jean-Michel Basquiat, the bar is located in a multicultural neighbourhood packed with small shops and markets. Formerly a local supermarket with a butcher inside, the building had plenty to offer; large openings facing the main street and a strong grid of beams on the ceiling.
The urban characteristics of the area together with Basquiat’s artistic ideas and visions; and the distinct quality, which the space offers create the foundations for the concept design of the new bar.
