The Epitome of Silent Luxury by II BY IV DESIGN

Thursday, November 10th, 2016

Article source: v2com

Founded in 1990 by partners Dan Menchions and Keith Rushbrook, II BY IV DESIGN is a creative studio that you know, only if you’re in the know. The creators of many high profile projects, their portfolio of work is impressive and their client list reads like a who’s who in industry circles; however, Menchions and Rushbrook are understated about their success, preferring to let their design work take center stage.

Au Pont Rouge in Saint Petersburg, Russia by Cheungvogl

Wednesday, September 21st, 2016

Article source: Cheungvogl

Hong Kong based architecture studio Cheungvogl has created an open exhibition retail space around a robotic system in the 110 year old iconic department store, Au Pont Rouge in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Completed in 1907, Au Pont Rouge located along the Red Bridge on River Moika was built in the tradition of great European department stores such as Galleries Lafayette in Paris or Selfridges in London. Following the revolution in 1919, the building was renamed and converted into Volodarsky Sewing Factory and in the 1930s, the original cupola was demolished. In 2011, the cupola was reconstructed and the building underwent functional and architectural transformations to restore Au Pont Rouge to its original state as a world class department store in Saint Petersburg.

The design concept for the renovation of the interior of the department store followed one main principle: the central atrium should become the store’s new nucleus and the central orientation point of the building because this is where the horizontal and vertical visual axes and the main building access are united.

Sky SOHO in Shanghai, China by Zaha Hadid Architects

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

Article source: Zaha Hadid Architects

A design for a new office and retail destination that aims to provide a strong visual identity close to Hongqiao Transportation Hub near Shanghai’s city centre and Hongqiao Airport.

Our proposal for the new Linkong SOHO building aims to provide a strong visual and programmatic identity which establishes a unique destination in its own right. Such identity consists of an exclusive programme mix consolidated in three different destinations – thematic “Courtyards” – representing distinct clusters of activities, and an exceptional architecture that moulds such a programme into a landmark. The building’s dynamic, curvilinear form continues through its internal spatial experiences, dramatic courtyards and flowing public spaces.

Balance between the new image and the concept, in a modern and innovative design, are also the elements for the interior design project for the Polanco store ILÓ. The idea comes from the use of the hank of yarn as the design element of a cozy, classic and very elegant space. Being a retail store that sells home high end products the color palette selected was earth, to harmonize and enhance the quality and warmth of the products.
