The intersection of Old Street and Great Eastern Street is an iconic landmark in East London. The ancient Roman street widens on the western side after crossing what is being called the Silicon Roundabout, the intersection of City Road, and opens the doors of Shoreditch at Haggerston.

This junction is not only significant from the morphology of the urban fabric but also for becoming a regeneration catalyst in this old industrial area influenced by the City of London that has experienced an important creative and artistic boom.

Medly Pharmacy in New York by Sergio Mannino Studio

Friday, October 12th, 2018

Article source: Sergio Mannino Studio

Medly Pharmacy is a new neighborhood pharmacy in Brooklyn, owned by Marg and Sahaj Patel and designed by Sergio Mannino Studio.

Retailers have begun to understand the necessity of transforming businesses into every-channel retail platforms, where online and physical stores work as one, not needing to compete with each other. Pharmacies in particular are beginning to take advantage of this, with Medly being among the first in New York to do embrace the merits of both online and physical. Medly has designed a free complementary app that saves customers the hassle of having to leave the house when sick, let alone having to wait in line for hours just to get prescriptions. But a successful online business needs a physical counterpart and our design for Medly has been created with this in mind.

South Beach in Singapore by Foster + Partners

Wednesday, October 10th, 2018

Article source: Foster + Partners

The South Beach development covers an entire city block between the Marina and Civic District in the heart of downtown Singapore. Combining new construction with the restoration of existing buildings, the mixed-use, energy efficient new urban quarter brings together places to live and work with shops, cafes, restaurants, a hotel and public spaces. A wide landscaped pedestrian avenue – a green spine – weaves through the site and is protected by a large canopy, which shelters the light-filled public spaces beneath from the extremes of the tropical climate.

Friday, September 28th, 2018

Article source: GRAHAM BABA ARCHITECTS

When a multi-generational Japanese-American retail family wanted to develop a new concept for the urban food shopping experience, they contacted Graham Baba to help bring their idea to life. The architects traveled to Japan to research Japanese grocery designs that would work in urban Seattle. The resulting 5,500-square-foot market, which takes its name from the Japanese word for ocean, boasts a poke bar, live seafood tank and a master fishmonger station to assist with the selection of the perfect fillet or sashimi cut, as well as a curated offering of Asian grocery and gift items. Additionally, the market sought a venue from which to support their wholesale business that caters to local restaurateurs and businesses.
