Junction Bakery & Bistro in Alexandria, Virginia by CORE architecture + design

Monday, February 19th, 2018

Article source: CORE architecture + design

Influenced by modest 1940s Americana, Junction Bakery & Bistro brings freshly baked goods and all-day casual dining to the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. CORE worked with restaurateur Noe Landini and chef/baker Nathan Hatfield to create an inviting space that uncovers the building’s 1940s character as a grocery store, while connecting to Del Ray’s railroad history. Junction blends the warmth of dining at home and the energy of a working bakery.

Article source: One Works

The commission included two different exercises: address the strategic retail planning approach for 40.000 sqm of GLA, and the new plaza design with high street shopping facing the public spaces. The double story plaza reveals itself at the two principle levels of the public domain, one being the towers’ ground floors and the other in correspondence to the hypogea level, acting as a junction between the park and the pedestrian axis Domodossola.

Marina One in Singapore by ingenhoven architects

Monday, February 5th, 2018

Article source: ingenhoven architects

Marina One in the centre of Singapore is ingenhoven architects largest project and will open early 2018. As an international role model for living and working, Marina One makes an innovative contribution to the discourse on mega-cities, especially in tropical regions, which, in the context of increasing population and climate change, face enormous challenges. The high-density building complex with its mix of uses extends to over 400,000 square meters and, with its group of four high-rise buildings, defines the „Green Heart“—a public space extending over several stories. This three-dimensional green oasis reflects the diversity of tropical flora.

Article source: v2com

Close to the St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, the popular Austrian bar and restaurant chain Wein & Co has opened a new branch. The reason for completely renovating the already existing catering area of a Gründerzeit building was the possibility to extend the company to three levels and to modernize them. On an area of 800 square metres, BEHF architecturally implemented the motto “WINING DINING SHOPPING” by creating a spacious suite of rooms as well as a distinctive ambience.

Body Factory in New York by BFDO Architects

Monday, November 20th, 2017

Article source: v2com

A dramatically-lit, eye-catching retail space for  Dermalogica, an award-winning skincare line, leads to a series of closed, private therapy rooms in back. The retail space is a tall faceted enclosure of triangular panels surfaced in troweled concrete, visible to passers-by through storefront windows. The panels are illuminated indirectly by LED tape lights in the gaps between them. Floors are polished concrete. Along the side walls, products line the floating acrylic shelving units; the shelves themselves are edge-lit  by hidden LEDs. Overhead, a custom triangular LED light fixture frames the edge of the paneled surface where it stops to expose the ceiling. The reception desk was custom designed and fabricated out of white Caesarstone in a faceted pattern to complement the walls.
