Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore by Safdie Architects

Thursday, May 30th, 2019

Article source: Safdie Architects

Designed by Safdie Architects, Jewel Changi Airport, the newest development at Singapore’s award-winning Changi Airport, will commence a phased opening in April 2019. Jewel Changi Airport combines an intense marketplace and a paradise garden to create a new center – “the heart and soul” of Changi Airport. Once open, Jewel will establish a new paradigm for community-centric airport design, extending the airport’s principal function as a transit hub to create an interactive civic plaza and marketplace, combining landside airport operations with expansive indoor gardens and waterfall leisure facilities, retail, restaurants, and a hotel as well as other spaces for community activities.

Linked to the city’s public transportation grid and with open access to Terminal 1, and to Terminals 2 and 3 via pedestrian bridges, Jewel engages both in-transit passengers as well as the public of Singapore. Entirely publicly accessible, the 135,700-square-meter (1,460,660 sq.ft.) glass-enclosed toroidal building asserts a new model for airports as a destination for community activity, entertainment, and shopping.

“Jewel presents a new building prototype for connecting the city and the airport,” said Jaron Lubin, Principal at Safdie Architects. “Like an Ancient Greek ‘agora,’ it aligns social and commercial values to create an animated public realm destination.”

Article source: David Guerra Arquitetura e Interiores

The fashion industry is in perpetual transformation and throughout time, it has always kept a close dialog with the tendencies and behaviors of the consumer.

The concept for Mila store’s design is to bring a home to a commercial environment. We strived to work with natural elements that would bring comfort to the space, making the customer feel welcome through the use of affective memory thus making the experience of the purchase a pleasurable one. The idea is to bring stories, values and memories that would connect with anyone, with a careful and unique décor that would reveal itself in every minute detail.

Ånguera in Brazil by Tiago do Vale Arquitectos

Sunday, May 26th, 2019

Article source: Tiago do Vale Arquitectos

This is a project filled with singularities. A project that is as much about what is built as it is about its communication.

In the interior of the Brazilian Northeast, it had to be particularly aware of the limited resources available locally (both in quantity and variety) but, fundamentally, its design and communication had to be adjusted to the characteristics of the local manpower.

Considering that perspectives are more effective in communicating architectural objects than plans we wondered -with some naive curiosity, good humor, but also a practical spirit- if a house construction could be explained with a universal IKEA-like communication strategy.

Friday, May 24th, 2019

Article source: STUDIO MODIJEFSKY

The legendary hosiery brand Wolford recently approached Studio Modijefsky to produce a brand-new luxurious retail concept for their shops worldwide. After opening their recent flagship store in Amsterdam, this luxury bodywear company, specialising in tights, bodysuits and underwear, chose Paris for the location of its two latest shops. In the renowned Le Marais, Studio Modijefsky once again brings together Wolford’s exquisite craftsmanship and outstanding attention to body and skin to produce a unique and luxurious interior design experience.

First of the Paris stores, located on Rue Vieille du Temple no. 36, immediately draws you inside with its unusual, glossy window display of bespoke rails wrapped around a terrazzo staircase. The small-scale, low-ceiling interior of this shop creates an unusual, cosy backdrop for Wolford’s world-famous hosiery. The second store is situated only few doors down, on Rue Vieille du Temple no. 76. With footprint as small as no. 36, but almost twice as high ceiling, the interior tests the versatility of the new concept to its limits.

Les Dada East is a hair & styling salon located near Bastille in the heart of Paris. Its Italian founder Edoardo Seghi has created a salon that offers more than haircuts and a barbershop. The salon hosts cultural events such as art expositions and openings. The salon’s name is an homage to the 20th century Dada art movement. Edoardo commissioned Joshua Florquin Architecture to create a new concept and interior design that was in line with its philosophy and the Italian eco-inspired cosmetic brand Davines that they use.

Article source: nendo inc.

Interior design for Arabica located in the eastern coast of Kuwait, a new branch for the original coffee shop from Higashiyama, Kyoto.

With crisp white as the base colour of the space, the interior elements are accentuated with materials such as brass and concrete to fit the design theme of the Arabica brand and to symbolize the qualities of their high-end products. White coffee machines almost disappear to the background in order to highlight the coffee beans presented in linen bags behind a glass case and the “beans map” element hanged next to it.

Assemble by Réel in Shanghai, China by Kokaistudios

Wednesday, April 24th, 2019

Article source: Kokaistudios

Taking inspiration from the multifaceted lifestyles of Shanghai millennials, Kokaistudio’s interiors for Assemble by Réel concept store quite literally brings the outside in. Taking shoppers on a style journey, landmarked by striking installations, the resulting layout guides visitors through distinct districts and trends in a way that is nothing if not memorable.

Located on the third floor of a high-end shopping mall in Shanghai, Assemble by Réel is a men’s fashion and lifestyle concept store. In creating the venue’s layout and approach, Kokaistudios looked to the city itself and the style-inspired passions of its young, trendy demographic. With this in mind, interiors feature eye-catching installations based on recognizable architectural city motifs, each signalling a distinct fashion approach: classic, designer, urban, and contemporary. Collectively, these four zones speak to the lifestyle of a generation of China's coolest consumers, guiding visitors on a clear journey, and creating a memorable shopping experience.

PH Victor Hugo in Argentina by Estudio Galera Arquitectura

Friday, April 12th, 2019

Article source: Estudio Galera Arquitectura

Ostende PH –which stands for Spanish ‘Propiedad Horizontal’- is located in Victor Hugo Avenue, the only street which bears the features of an avenue in Ostende.

Placed in the central area of Pinamar County, this multifamily building pretends to become a point of development as it stands in the most populous part of the city. This sector contrasts with other highly consolidated and high quality urban areas –mostly chosen by tourists in high season- which offer well-equipped infrastructure, services and good access to urban facilities.

Ostende mostly attracts tourist investment projects; however, the program proposed permanent residences and retail stores.
