Locating in Urfa province and having an indoor area of 16.000 sqm, the project has been designed to facilitate education up to university, from kindergarten to high school.

Block decisions have been made to provide separate interior circulation areas, entrances and courtyards for different education levels (high school, middle school, primary school, kindergarten). Integration of the blocks and balance have been considered while interpreting the multi-input requirement program. Blocks with different functions have been constructed by two blocks in \”L\” shape.

EL JICARITO SCHOOL in Tipitapa, Nicaragua by knitknot architecture

Tuesday, October 24th, 2017

Article source: knitknot architecture

EL JICARITO SCHOOL is an innovative low-cost school design that brings a community together through collaborative construction methods and local materials, and that creates educational spaces that enhance creativity.

knitknot architecture has partnered with the local NGO Seeds of Learning to build a two-classroom school prototype for kindergarten and elementary school students. The school will include two classrooms, a multipurpose space, and a public square/playground. The aim is to explore new construction systems, such as the earth bag or super adobe, that take into account the complex internal dynamics of the communities in which the project is implemented. In other words, this project is to be understood not only as a building, but as a piece of infrastructure that takes into account technical developments but also socio-economic contextual realities.

IKC de Geluksvogel in Maastricht, The Netherlands by UArchitects

Tuesday, October 17th, 2017

Article source: UArchitects

This a unique sustainable and digital school in the Netherlands.

Two existing schools in two neighbouring locations in Maastricht are merging into a new school on a new location in that city. This particular location was chosen to strengthen the weak social structure of the two neighbourhoods and to introduce a new digital education system to learn also more about the environment, nature and sustainability. Even the playground outside has different zones to help children (re)discover nature and explore their world by means of experiments or to build and test objects.

The school is located on square land in the perimeter of the town in an area of potential development.  The building stands alone in a isolated area, limited by an avenue, that is buried beneath the school and fields.

The building design is a comb framework facing onto the future plaza, (for school weekly access and weekend public use) and inside you will find the administration office, kitchen, dining room and gym.  The two perpendicular wings are on one and two floors respectively, where the classrooms are located for kindergarten and primary.

Ecole de Riddes in Switzerland by R2A architectes

Friday, October 6th, 2017

Article source: R2A architectes

This primary school is the first project of our young architecture office.

The square. Built as a very compact structure, the new primary school inserts itself into the village. Regarding its scale and position the building conveniently interacts with the existing school and the smaller village housing. The project offers a whole new public space that provides a renewed articulation between the school center and the village. Taking advantage of the two different levels between the schoolyard and the village square, the underground lobby connects the old school to the new one.

The Inter-Community School Zurich is a private international day school, which offers a comprehensive educational programme in English for children from ages of 3 to 18.

The new design forms a fresh and individual space that reflects ICS’s culture and values, and gives their staff and students a strong sense of belonging.

During the planning stage, the students along with the staff were greatly involved in the decision-making process by expressing their needs and favoured use of the space as well as their preferences in furniture, material and colour choices.
